Tips for saving up money?

i think i know why you're having trouble saving up money.

@levi: maybe you can get a cheap bike shipped to you...?

Since he is a bit old, to have a piggy shaped thing stored somewhere, a bank account can do as good.
In my house, all adults, we have two gold cat banks, and a Hello Kitty one. They are mostly decoration, although I think I have a silver dollar stuck in one of my cats (I collect old coins).

I bought a relatively cheap bike (that still cost me about 100 days of public transport), but I spent almost the same again after buying it getting it just the way I liked and maintainable. From pannier bags, bells, pumps, different tyres, new inner tubes, inner tube patches and kit, helmet, tyre levers, spanners, bicycle computer (speedometer), various bike locks. Nowadays I can fix most things on it though, and know where I can get cheap new drivechains, saddles that cost half the bus fare, and can make tyres last years, it just took a little longer than I initially expected to get to this point.
I need to get back into riding my bicycle, and working on it. Where I live there isn't really anywhere that I go that is within biking distance that isn't within walking distance. Longer rides come with a huge chance of getting hit by a car.

Really? My bike was only €75,- and serviced me for years (a few small repairs every now and then, but nothing mayor).

We have a special word for those in the Netherlands, a "stationsfiets" or "train station bike".
I had a friend that acquired a handful of bicycles and left them at different stations so that she could always pick one up wherever she was headed. Great idea.

Mine was 20 bucks...
Worked for a year now, but i had a flat tire just yesterday.
Damn. Mine was probably the cost of all of these combined.

Well guys, I went bipolar again and picked up Persona 5 for around $32.

The thing is, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be banned from the Pyra community before the Pyra is even out. I'm also pretty sure I'm gonna quit Persona 5 after five hours, but at least that's five less hours you guys have to put up with me.

Damn, that next psych appointment needs to happen soon.
Just pay attention when the mods tell you to chill out and you shouldn't get banned (for long).

To save money it sounds like you need to have someone else hold onto it for you. Tell whoever is giving you the allowance to withhold a set amount from each week so that you aren't tempted to use it and can save it for something that is more expensive. Ensure they are someone that won't give it to you until you are using it toward a Pyra.

When I have control of the money I barely spend anything, to the point of it being a problem for others (they always complain about needing food and such). That is why I don't do that anymore. It seems the place to be is somewhere between where we are. And, really, who needs food when there are so many important books out there? I have enough extra weight around the middle that the books seem the right choice to me.

@JDTAY: Don't eat for a day (but keep drinking lots of water). Saves up around 10 dollars each time you do that. If you do it weekly, like on fridays, you save 40 dollars a month on food. Might be a bit extreme. Skip dinner, but eat a good breakfast.
I go to the market very late because prices are lower (a whole box of something for cheap), or there is something on the ground you can pickup, wash and remove the skin from before you eat it (I mostly cook these first, as you never know).
Now that it is winter, I use a pitcher to keep me warm at night. I then wash myself in the morning with the lukewarm water of the pitcher. This saves up heat. In the summer, I of couse use cold water to wash myself.

It seems I use 1/10th of gas from the average in my situation. And about half of the electricity (as I keep my PC on for many things). It was higher, but using the pandora to watch things I saved to disk helps lower the consumption.

Giving advice to skip meals so he can buy a Pyra...really guys?

@JDTAY: don't get a Pyra. It is obvious that you cannot afford it.

Seek some professional council for handling money. The way this is starting to sound, it seems you have a serious problem.

Hot water bottle perhaps?
I duckduckgo'ed "waterkruik translate" and it came with that word... http://m.interglot.com/nl/en/waterkruik

Ugh.. Interglot has a "Vodka is strong, meat is rotten" quality of translation: http://m.interglot.com/nl/es/?q=waterkruik
One of the translations to spanish is waterthrower because a baseball pitcher is a baseball thrower... so a water pitcher is a... you guessed it... a water thrower!

And calling it hot water BOTTLE is like using HAND-SHOES... (in Dutch: handschoenen)

At least I'm not giving him the onion ring address where you can sell a kidney and get paid in Monero... (in Persona5 it is a heart that the protagonist sold)

(Don't do it Risky and it's not much, as you have to pay your plane ticket, and revalidate whereever because they will not pamper you... and you want to get away as fast as possible, because if it looks like you are not gonna make it (or look unhappy about the transaction or like you are going to snitch), they'll take the other kidney as well). Netherlands is big in human trafficking (mostly prostitution, but also organs). I feel ashamed of that (and the facts we sell armaments to the middle-east).

Anyway...

I would never buy Persona 5. Because I do not have a playstation 3/4. So the solution is simple: sell your playstation 3/4. Maybe you'll get 40 dollars for it.
But I play Persona 5. Here's how I do it:

I google "Persona 5 part 1" and play the video. Meanwhile I use a cardboard controller (made out of free cardboard from the supermarket, shaped like a and hold it in my hand while watching the video). The controller response is awful, but if you ask the opinion of the Angry Videogame Nerd, there are games with worse controllers...

Sorry... mixup from another thread (creating a time-causality paradox). Your text was:

>>With 5G my push ups are 5 times more effective !! YEAH !!

Was going to reply something about Dragonball, where they go into a room with more gravity than normal, to train. I then deleted the quote but before posting... so... strange effect.

But in this reality that did not happen, so don't worry about that.

How do you save money?

@FBnil : I imagined something like that happened, I was just curious xD and in Dragonball was like 100G ;)

Oh man, I have $80 on my prepaid debit card now.

Kinda tempted to go play a few lotto scratchers. As satisfying as saving up enough money for Pyra would be, I have a feeling winning $500 on a scratcher today and shoving it in Wally's face would be even more satisfying. I gotta admit, the odds are against me though.

:(

Well, lucky for me, the lotto scratchers are seven tenths of a mile away, and I don't feel like walking today.

NEVER install things from Blizzard !! NOT EVEN FOR FREE !!!111!eleven!11

You are advised !!

I think i'll be doing the laughing as you've got no sense of budgeting and will probably spend the money on something ridiculous

@Wally: Yup, he bought Skyrim for PS4 (Even before finishing the newly bought Persona5). He had 80, I estimate 50 dollars on Skyrim... which leaves about zero (because he doesnt list all stuff bought). So he'll have to survive about 2 weeks on air until the next paycheck.

FYI, it was forty, and in addition to the forty left on my card, I have close to four hundred still in my bank account this month.

I do have to pay the cleaners a couple times though, and I owe my older sister some money for being part of her cell phone service family plan. Nickels and dimes, man...
