Hi !

I'm planning to build a new computer for gaming this year, probably once the new GPU architectures from AMD and Nvidia are out.

I am planning to use that computer either as a console to play on my videoprojector from the couch or as a streaming box to my laptop and Pyra: I won't have a proper keyboard/mouse/monitor/chair/desk setup for that new gaming machine.

So the streaming part is an important part of the build. I did some research, and it looks like I can use Steam in-home streaming between my desktop and laptop, no matter the GPU brand in my desktop as long as the GPU is recent.

On the Pandora, I've noticed there is a tool for streaming that is only compatible with NVidia GPUs.
Would the situation be similar on the Pyra ? Should I only consider NVidia GPUs for my build ?

Get a mid-end AMD GPU with Freesync and HBM as soon as they are released, and Freesync and PWM-free monitor.
by the time ZEN should be also released.

Playing PC games from the couch is not always a flawless process due to poorly implemented gamepad support for some of the games.

You do not need a 200 Euro keyboard/mouse, or a 400 Euro DX Racer chair in order to play games.
Just get a regular PC desk from the local IKEA,
Also there are some very good business chairs from IKEA with 10 year warranty. For comparison, all the DX Racers are coming with only 2 years of warranty.

ptitSeb, Wally: thanks for the feedback :)

Thinkpad, Mr_Loon: when advocating AMD as a possibility, do you have a software in mind with server on Windows and client on the Pandora / Pyra that works well for gaming ?

lukey: cool solution but as far as I understand, it requires Linux on the server side ? I don't want to limit my choices in terms of available games on the server side so the gaming machine will run windows.

Unfortunately I am not familiar with the streaming solutions, but when it comes to performance per price ratio, the AMD products are aways better.
Also all the FreeSync supported monitors are 5-20% more cheap against the G-Sync, because Nvidia is forcing the manufactures to put their chips into the G-Sync monitors.
