What The Hell Is Going On?

You're obviously a moron, yet you're telling me and everyone else to do things, to follow your rules. That shouldn't happen, thus, I'm making your stupidity more obvious to the public eye.
You're clearly not following what i was saying, as i said, if i cared i would have carried it on in the relevant thread.

Yes, i'm quite clearly a moron!

I fail to see where i told people what to do. I started this thread to voice my opinion on the current climate surronding the forums. Not once have i told people to follow my rules.

your right, i shouldn't be telling people what to do, thats why i haven't been!

Thank you very much for your concern, but you don't need to worry about alerting people to a possible stupid leader.

do you know what will make the biggest difference? Banning the very people who create the need for flames!

There is no need for flames...

®
I think that it is a good idea that people should be told off for flaming.

The only reaon that Spray does not like this is that often he is th eone doing most of he flaming and seems to take some sort of pride in ruining other peoples fun.
Spray (and others) has being annoying me for some time, by they way they want to flame people as soon as they make a wrong move and seem to justify themselves by saying that somebody "didn't search".
If people are asking annoying questions they should stil be answered, and maybe should be directed to the rules (not flamed - that is no help at all and ruins the atmosphere of the board).
If nobody gives a correct answer and instead just flames then that shall mean that when searching for topics to answer a question it shall be difficult to find the avctual answer amidst previous flames from Spray (and others)...

New Board-Rules? I think there just the same as they ever were. The only difference is the new innovative Ban-System with warnings and suspensions. But I don't think this threatens people from posting silly stuff ...

I agree...

Sorry, I've been reading the "spray's handbook of misreading internet forum posts for dummies". I'll know better next time!

I admit, i do flame people.

i flamed sam_fishers old posts when the board was getting sick of his constant posts, i criticised sayquestionaskanswer over his trolling, i apparently flamed allesandro by pointing him toward the zodiacgamer.com forums, i offered jonopike a pretty picture when he was becoming a class A arse!

i also try and help out where i can. i'm reasonably proficcient with vdub and thus spend a bit of time in the i need help forums and the GPCinema forums.

my overriding issue with the new rules is that it appears that the trolls and the, frankly, lazy newbies won't be held to account for their actions, yet day to day commmunity members will be slapped with a suspension when they get tired of pointless threads!

too much newbie noise instead of interesting discussions
Agree. Everyday, there are n00bs who dont read the FAQ or dont use the searchfunction. Its just f*ckin' irritating...

thats why i think there should be a n00b section. coz i for 1 wouldnt mind answering n00b qs like " how come the gba emulator is so slow" and other q's like that.
That n00b section will do as great as the FAQ and searchfunction i think...
LOL. yeah i guess ur right. although i am acually one of of those who use the seach funktion

why not set a 1h ban (and send them a link to the faq) for guys who ask questions that are in the faq?
well flaming is bad, thats right, but you understand that some guys can realy get anoying.
and some guys should realy dont take things so hard, "wäh he told me that iam offtopic, that was so a hard flame i leave now".

ps: i like the rules stickys!

If a thread is pointless to you, maybe its only your opinion? Whats pointless to you maybe interesting to others. Does some inner power force you to read every thread?

we both know what type of post i'm talking about.

its the kind which is probably posted a few times each week, the type covered in the faq here, in the faqs on gp32emu.com, could be easily sorted via irc, can be answered by using the search.

Just my opinion of course but if a new member asks a question in the wrong place and you answer their question and point out in a friendly way that they are posting in the wrong forum they will probably pick up on that.

If you flame or ban them for it you can wait for the flame-wars to begin, the response to "you are a ******* ***hole because you are posting in the wrong place" hardly ever leads to"thank you for pointing that out, that won't happen again".

Biting someone's head off for an honest beginner's mistake just isn't going to improve the boards. You may feel good for a second (Ha, I told the noob, man am I great or what?) but the only response to that will be negative and of course you will have to respond to that again (you can't just take that from a noob now can you?).

Yes people need to read the FAQ and people really should read readme's but there is always another side to that story. I've seen tons of games being updated and losing their readme's in the process, the search-function on this board isn't that great and quite often leads to posts or links that are long-gone and downloads on the site are often non-existent or not up-to-date. I also have one question: just where the hell is the FAQ? I have seen it before but I tried finding it and had a very hard time.

If the FAQ can't be found, readme's are not included and the search doesn't answer all your questions (I've seen flames about searching for things like VIA and VNS) then why exactly are we flaming people for asking last weeks question again when they were not even here to see it?

Sure, trolls should be warned/banned (once proven a troll) should they be flamed? Do you know why they troll? They giggle when you flame.

Should new members who make a mistake be flamed? They will probably start back at you, creating groups of people who dislike eachother here. How does this improve the boards?

It's okay to lose your temper sometimes but some members just flame everything they can. If that's your reason for being here maybe you are the one ruining the boards.

Soapbox caved in, I rest ...

Edit: Found the FAQ, it's on the GP32x website. Why isn't this the number one sticky on the boards? The FAQ should (also) be there where you go to ask and post questions.

I'm starting to wonder what I find more annoying, the noob posts (which I haven't noticed at ALL lately) or your whining ABOUT the noob posts (which I have seen more than enough lately)

the "are we still a frendly community" ones are more annoying. also flaming noobs is allways wrong we all know. it feels better to help a poor noob than flaming one.

i worried that i was sounding like a stuck record, i checked over four or five pages of my last posts (yes im bored  )

shockingly i found that it was mostly general chit chat and even a decent amount of helpful posts to other people, and a few questions on my own part! just to complete there was also part of an argument, this was easily reconciled just an hour later though!

so, before you start making accusations at least have the facts straight

p.s. for swisscheesespam i am not telling Q-wi-Q what to do, just suggesting stuff, he can easily ignore me and i don't think what i'm saying is too stupid, i hope i havent offended you sir :p

I also think that when you change some characteristics of the board, that someone put a post on the main page to state to everyone why and when you applied the new board features. gp32_console

I think everything should be sorted into more sections with more lists, possibly with a list of lists. Having made these lists there should be an individual username and password for every single page and levels of hierarchy and power should be increased to ensure that greater levels of power and control can be placed into the hands of those who truly and clearly deserve it.

Come on guys lighten up! you are all sounding like members of the politbureau. A forum is for anyone who is interested in the forum. Who are any of you to say what is right and wrong on it. Suggestions maybe, but some people seem so self righteous. Get a grip.

Guys, calm down. I need to clarify some things before we kill each other. Board rules - we all know them. There is nothing new. But now they are visible - thats the only difference :) I know, nobody likes where new things appear :) but in a few weeks we forgot that it is new but some new members will think twice before they ask something stupid or annoying. And about 'new' system of ban and punishment :) It is actually not new :) we use it for a year or more. :) It is just not visible for normal members only for Xteam poeple. It helps us to silence some people for a few days (btw. Swiss_Cheesespam your old account is fully functional now ;) or ban another forever :) It is even better than a banning people from the begining. First we suspend account for a few days giving a reason to this person. He can read everythin etc. just can't reply. After a given period of time if the guy still behave like a moron we suspend him forever. Thats all - simple and fun ;)
And good news for the end :) Yoyofr promised to release new, better and FASTER version of OSnes9xGP very very soon :)
Peace :)

I must admit, I have felt that lately generalmx has been ruling these boards with an iron fist. I have no problem with many of the things he has done; I think most of them will definately help the community as well. However his incessant editing of posts has really pissed me off. Its called a forum for a reason; if people cant express their views, even if they sound like a completes ass, let em'!

I saw like 15 posts edited in a day, many of whitch I didnt feel the editing warented. I understand that lame resonses like "please use the search function" are annoying and unhelpful and they should sometimes be edited, but seriously sometimes what a n00b's gotta hear is "hey, seriously use the search function." Its the reason many of us seached for responces to our questions. Some of these need to be edited (especially the ones that come off excesiively rude) but godammit let people say what they want and dont edit posts unless its absolutely necessary!

Sorry. Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: @ Hando- thats been the most smiley's ive ever seen in one post lol

Yes those are so annoying especially that one which got pinned (how did that happen?)

The whining about n00b posts definitely.
Personally I enjoy helping the noob's out...

Yaaay.....
Nice use of smilies there Hando.
