I knwo there are prob. millions of peoples opinions all over the place, but i thought it would be cool to get a general opinion of the best thing to do to my BLU. Should i flash with an alternative firmware? Put an alternate firmware FXE on my smc? Stick with official?

Also how do you 'dump' firmware? is that basically getting rid of the original firmware before putting another on?

Which F/W should i use? I currently have aquafsh on my FLU and wanted a general consensus?

Thanks to all that reply

No there is a program which saves your firmware to GP:/fw.bin.
That is dumping your firmware.

well, as long, as its delivered with the Eurofirmware, there is no real need of reflashing your GP. It it is deliverd with the Korean one, than i would advise you to flash it. Flashing is normaly not needed, it just gives you more posibilitys (launching an FXE directly, having additional file launchers implemented etc.), but the european launcher is also very good. And Dumping is just a synonym for backing up.

if you consdider to flah, go for Aquafishs MultiFW or GPBios

You should only flash your firmware if you are not pleased with the limitations of the firmware (mostly look and feel) you are using. The first GP32's all came with the original frimware that required freelauncher, if you wanted to launch non-commercial software you had to launch freelauncher before you could launch the fxe. Euro firmware doesn't have that problem so if you are happy with it you should just stick with it.

None of the firmwares are 100% perfect: Korean requires freelauncher, Euro is fine for most but I don't care for the way it looks, non-official firmware can't load all comercial software. If you decide to flash I would go for a multifirmware version, these give you the option to select a different firmware at startup.

The best launchers are YAFL, Wind-ups and Pacrom. You can run these as fxe's to see which one you like best. If you decide you really like one of them and would like it as your default launcher you can download a multifirmware that can launch it as your default 'OS'.

If you decide to flash it is smart to check out the flashing guide atGP32Emu. It will show you what you need and how to backup your current firmware.

I am not gonna flash my BLU until aquafish remakes his firmware (his pc broke) to have the latest windups 2.0/YAFL, the newest BLU firmware, Pacrom.
And all of the features it had in 4.8
I would like to know whether switching the BLU's light on/off is in the firmware or not.
You can switch the light on/off at any time not just when it is starting up as some people said.
Visibillity is very low with the light off though so you could only use it like this when listening to Mp3's etc...

I dunno how long this will take him though :( .
