Just to have this on the thread. All these have been tested severall times with different files & these problems are consistent regardless of the version:

- Last Ninja (4 disks) & 1943: When I use the Joystick, it is impossible to go in a direction & press FIRE (quite problematic to be standing still in a shoot em up). Weird since lots of other games work just fine
- Deuteros, Omega & Legend of Djell: The mouse is stuck in a small portion of the screen (cannot get it normal even after bumping the borders)
- Pop Up: the ball disappears towards the top of the screen. On the first screen, it is bearable, but on the 2nd & subsequent screens, the ball actually disappears, making it impossible to jump correctly
- Heroquest (minor fault - doesn't really prevent gameplay): mouse cursor is only appearing (very blinky, though) at frameskip 0
- Dark Castle: The game goes into demo mode automatically (I verified with the original on my ST & I don't have this problem)
- Technoball 2: the bottom part of the screen is not displayed. Quite problematic since that's where the bat is (breakout clone). There is a screen option in the menu, but this does not change anything
- Hounds of shadow: needs the / key on the keyboard. I assume it runs in a different resolution (small green screen - takes about 1/4th of the screen).
- The Pawn, Thief, Jinxter, ...: All need different resolution modes. (same as with Hound of Shadow)
- Rock & Roll, Zany Golf: mouse is acting weird (finds walls where there's none, jumps from places to places on the screen,...)
- Freedom, Meurtres en Serie: For some reason, the mouse controls are replaced by cursor controls (from memory, the games play with the mouse). Needless to say, moving the cursor is extremely slow...
- Targhan, Warlock's Quest: Extremely dark (I know I have been mentioning the contrast issue, but this is very extreme) - makes it totally unplayable

That rounds up my bug report...

Does this display in the bottom border on the ST? ie. a bigger screen than 320x200. Pang uses the bottom border to get a screen res of 320x240, in which it displays score, lives and level info.

Same with Super Cars II for all us non-FLU GP32ers. :(

I tried the game in a PC emu & I have the same problem, so I assume this is hopeless :(

'Gods' on Automation A_476_A and A_476_B does not seem to work...

It starts up ok, loads into the program, but then it waits for the second disc to be inserted.
As soon as I do this by the Castaway/GP menu the GP32 REBOOTS!

The same disc images work perfectly in moron or Saint, so I guess it is not a bad version...

Sensible Soccer

i've just tried the game again with the latest build (0.83). same problems. :(

i whacked the frameskip up to 91 and let the menu timeout so that the demo game starts. it runs at a perfect framerate with accurate rendering = on. :)

so that rules out any loading and game issues, leaving it down to the joystick problem.

Which sensi soccer? Someone sent me a 1 disk version that is good and wedged :/

IF it renders okay.. then you think you just cannot "start" a game by hitting fire or somethign? Whats wrong in the version you've got?

The joystick inCastaway is very well done (witness Xenon, etc), so I woudl be amazed if it was joystick being weird. :/ Perhaps its looking at joy0 instead of joy1? (ie: Most ST users had the mouse and joystick plugged in at the same time, so it was the second joystick port you want for the first joystick)

that was me jeff, it's the same disc image i'm using!

hit Y/N to ram disk question, then press space and then LEAVE IT on fs=91. the menu will appear followed after a wee while by the demo cpu game. switch back to fs=1 and it plays (with itself) like a dream. render=accurate to avoid it slowing to a crawl (i'm still not sure why accurate rendering speeds stuff like this up?). try that.

pressing any joy control bombs it.

Weird.. so it just hangs. OKay, thanks for the demo walkthru.. didnt' know you coudl just let is sit. Looks cool :)

I forget if navigating the menus works at all, either.

I'll try some debug tests on it and see what shes doing in there..

ANY joystick input movement bombs it, on any screen - intro, menu, game.

Thanks for this Jeff, we all know you have let your personal affairs slip a little over our old faithful ST. ;)

Hi,
I have found a bug that could possibly be linked to a lot more problems:
I have a disk A for amberstar (can you already tell I am obsessed with the game ?). I can load it fine & browse the directory in moron, Pacifist.... but when I try to load it in CaSTaway or read the directory, I can't see a thing. The two other disks (B & C) load fine in CaSTaway
I am sure (well, in fact I am not, but this seems likely) this is very similar with other games where you can't access the directory or the directory is empty.
Any idea ?
Also, while I'm at it, any chance to fix the bug where inserting a disk in drive B crashes the emu (after you have started the emulation - if you do it at startup it works fine)
thanks for any help,

Loic

When you say inserting into drive B crashes rthe emu.. is this *any* insertion into B:, or just with specific games? If its any and every time, then its probably an easy fix (hopefully :)

AS to Amberthing.. you mean if you put the ST or MSA file into disk A and boot, you see it as empty in Casttaway/GP?

Tried Castaway for DOS by any chance? (I thoguht not ;)

Send me the disk image if you'd like.

jeff

Hi,
The crash occurs with any insertion in drive B (doesn't have to be related to the game in drive A).
As for Amberstar, that is indeed the problem : nothing in the folder. I have tried CaSTaway DOS & do not have the problem. Well, I have other problems (maybe it's my configuration - the game crashes), but I can read the directory at least.
I have emailed you Amberstar disk A. Let me know if you need the other disks.
Thanks,

Loic

This also happens with two other Sensible Software games, Wizkid and Mega-lo-Mania and the ST Format demo of Sensi. So there must be something strange about their games!

The demo cpu game of Sensi looks 'bootiful' though!

So even if you go to the GEM desktop and insert a disk into B:, and then double click on B drive to view it, it screws everything up?

Game: Rolling Ronny (Plotformer, Virgin)
Source: JOE'S FTP

Problem: corrupted graphic intro screens
Analysis: strange resolution? (perhaps using borders)
