Gbax 2004 Best Gp32 Entries?

DoberMann - I did really like Advance War, but obviously it isn't quite there yet. I have a daring proposal though - how about cutting the Advance Wars link and making it your own thing?

If you were to customise the visuals and gameplay a bit and give it a new name then you would escape the big N's attention and you would be free from trying to live up to the 'official' version. You could then take it anywhere you wanted and you would probably find a lot less pressure on you and a more appreciative response from gamers(?)...

...just my opinion, i realise you gain a lot more attention by it being a 'port' though. You've got your work cut out for you living up to a milti-million $ company like Nintendo and a famously amazing game! If you can't recreate it 100% then someone is always going to be unhappy. Seriously though - good work, just my thoughts to try and help!

:)

thanks for your answer and your thoughts!

BtW. Aqua did all the coding. I "only" created the maps. But this took its time too.
The game is still in development and i hope some people create maps and stuff with the included editors.
I am happy that some people like the game like i do. its really fun to play and if you want to play all maps you will play the next weeks only gpwar. ;)

But I like to receive some feedback from the "people" - So write a short note about how you like the game.

With advance wars I think it would be awesome if you added things like snow levels, mountainous areas. and planes that actually can do planelike things. also it would rock if the bomber had a radius attack...like one that actually bombed. But it woudl have to be super expensive. Ive never played advance wars on gba so I dont know if this is anything like how it is on gba. oh ya..its my favorite game from the compo.

Hi Green!

I'm happy for your feedback!

I think some of your suggestion will be finished in the next version. (I hope Aqua reads this. ;) )
I could change the the water and river so that planes or helis could walk over it.
Walking over your own units will be possible sometimes too. But I'm not sure if Aqua can change the bomber attack.

What do you mean with mountainous areas? I dont understand.

Yaaayyy it's your favorite!

Im refering to the kind of terreain thats around. Just a visual thing to switch things up. I had so many more good ideas last night when I was playing it. BUt I got my drink on and now I sadly cant remember them all. I did find a weird bug however. When I was playing on easy level 11 or 12 I was able to attack invisible troops. Sometimes these troops would end up killing me whne I attacked them. I could go over top of them when I was moving so I dont know what they were. I didnt seem to have the problem in later levels.

Hi.

Today I noticed the same bug. but it only in the 11 level- it's because a unit is under the land tile.... my fault.
Grab the map editor and make your own maps! Don't get drunk again.... :D ;)

Thanks for all your compliments about "Numo". We tried to make a whole, complete game for compo, not a "work in progress" or "half complete" game. I hope you enjoyed it.

they should release an editor, can't wait for pr0nstars mappack

infact, a windows based nmo *packer* is ready, but it still needs some little adjustment to make things easier for you, if I cannot find time to make the changes needed, I'll release it -as is-. But be sure to get a copy of photoshop first.

you can find some (old) screenshots at:

Photoshop is up and running, take the time to fix the editor...

pfff, i've opened the map editor, and i must say i admire the one who made all the maps, it's functional, but you can't load any settings, everytime you open it you have to define every tile and unit again....
a simple load function would make a huge difference, and being able to edit tiles and untis after you added them (or thus making small corrections to a loaded set of tiles/units) would finish this editor, and make me make a lot of maps i think :D

Aqua said it was to difficult to make a load function...
You have to define every tile and unit again.... but if you dont close the editor you can push the new map button and make 10 maps in a row. thats how i made it.

And with the notepad you can edit the files afterwards a fix some bugs you noticed.
It's easy but a lot of work... ;)
