Ringo, I actually also looked at Amiga scene for sources (the Amiga had alot of "Soundtracker" like programs) but either the sources was not available or it was assembler sources so you have point!
Don took a look at the SoundTracker for Unix so this might not be possible (because of too much Unix stuff I guess) but I found bettter link if someone else wants to have look...

But as I said before, CHN's modplayer maybe modified to handle all exceptions so that a mod that is not finished (or the editor/sequencer only passes a "qualified" mod to the player) than it should not be that hard to do a basic track editor that passes the mod for playing to CHN's modplayer...
