hey

After recently doing a system upgrade in archlinux, I noticed the following message.

QUOTE

==> xfce can run on top of a framebuffer. However, for most users it is
==> best to install xorg as an x-server. Please install either xorg-xinit
==> as minimal environment or the xorg meta package.

I thought the devs might be interested, incase they don't already know, as I think this might make for a really fast/light desktop environment for the Pandora :).

Anyhows after this upgrade I noticed my system was running much much faster, not sure what it was, I was thinking it might have been the new version of XFCE, but dunno.

what version of xfce is that?

also I think most any GTK app can run with directfb so i wonder if they are using that
Hi there, I checked my pacman.log and the first reference to this appeared during the update from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 (on xfce-utils)

The only other reference I could find was an old wiki-entry somewhere, from a guy who ported the panel to the framebuffer and one reference of an linux-fb-port in the Xfc-reference.
If it was quite simple I'm sure google would spit out much more.
