Hi !

Right, I'm asking you that:

Which devices is more powerfull ?

I know that iPhone 3GS and Pandora got a Cortex A8 @ 600Mhz, but which GPU ?

iPhone 3GS got a SGX535 but Pandora ? SGX530 ?

So Pandora have a more powerfull CPU (600Mhz-850Mhz)(iPhone got 420Mhz-600Mhz) and iPhone got a more powerfull GPU ?(SGX535 VS SGX530)

The question can only be answered if you narrow it down to your usage scenario. The iPhone is the more powerful answering phone calls, but the Pandora is more powerful for gaming. It has gaming controls after all ;)

Psh, this isn't about what you use it for.
This is about something much more important, this is about bragging rights!

Yes no buttons, but Pandora team will released a gamepad for iPhone

With the buttons of the Pandora (stick, buttons, triggers, start/select.)

It is also about efficiency too. That isn't exactly fully measurable here, as we do not have something to compare equally.

lol, you guys are so in denial.

it would appear the iPhone has more grunt.

But it has one button. So that point is null.

The Pandora has 56 buttons, if I counted right. So that makes the Pandora... 56 times as powerful as the iPhone!

The iPhone OS supposedly has more overhead than the Pandora, so running the same program at the same clock speed, the Pandora version will complete slightly faster. Supposedly. I forget where I heard that, so may be misremembering.

About n64 emulation, I'm wondering if iPhone got sufficient power to fullspeed, cause the Pandora do fullspeed !

IMO, the difference in processing power will pale in comparison to:
  • Better battery
  • Open software
  • USB host (think portable external HDD).
  • Proper gaming controls
  • No iTunes stupidity
  • USB slave (ie. can work as a thumbdrive replacement, SDHC card reader)
  • Better screen
  • Physical keyboard
  • No Apple-level pricing

EDIT: BTW, how long do you think it will be for the gamepad for iPhone take before release? It does involve making a custom plastic case.

Allright, I'm not talking about OS, or screen, or prices or something like that !

I'm talking about CPU, GPU and Ram !

Gaming control will be available on iPhone !

Don't get angry ! I don't say anything against Pandora !

Zodttd's PSX emulator could be used to compare Pandora and iPhone, I suppose.

It depends. On some emulators CPU might be the bottleneck, on others it might be the GPU. Experts like Exophase could answer it better.

Edit:
Btw, does the 3GS have L2 cache?

Pretty much the same at stock

however an overclocked pandora will be much faster

Lets talk RAM then, the iPhone OS consumes 60-70MB just after booting. That leaves only ~170 MB free for your apps/games.

Craigx said that the icontrolpad will be released in March.
hahahaha, another victim.

iPhone 3GS has SGX 535. But iPhone OS kernel limits how much you can use the hardware.
