So I need to know what case to buy to put this in. On a side note, anyone have a case for this that they would sell to me?

Awesome, thank you. Any clue as to what the cpu socket type is on that board?
there are a lot of programs wich can show you that (provided you have an os installed of course :p ).

but I see its a pentium II, you can look up what socket type it belongs to.

ok thanks. I guess i will put it all together and then run one of those programs to tell me the socket type. Then i will upgrade it if i can.

Anybody know of a good site to get old PC parts? Newegg doesnt really go back to pentium2 or 3. I found pcsurplusonline.com but i just thought someone may know of a better place.

Well they are so old now they are expensive. I believe they are all discontinued. You could try getting a slocket.

basically its the biggest of the ATX form factors so you cnat just a smaller case. A micro can go into a atx but a atx not fit into a micro. I'd get a microatx Mobo if you want it to be small.

Yeah, but i cant find any micro atx motherboards that accept slot 1 processors, which is what i have. I am basically trying to spend as liitle money on this as possible and what with the parts that i have all i need to buy is a case. Get it?

What about the mid atx cases? Are they for mid atx mobos? I mean there has to be different sizes for atx cases right? So is there a name for the smaller cases that fit atx mobos or do i just need to look at the sizes listed in the specs?

What about like cases with no spots for cd-drives? Wouldnt that cut the size? I wonder if i can find one like that....

EDIT: Mistakes.

Its all to do with the size of the MoBo mostly. Also a pentium 2, if thats what you have, goes to like what, 400mzh max? Thats not going to emulate well! Not neccisarily full speed except in the 8bit consoles.

You can build a good PC for not that much anymore, since Athlon XP and similar are considered "old" now. I have an overclocked Athlon XP 2600+ to 2.2GHz still and it works great. (BTW I love AMD)

Micro ATX Mobo and Intel Celeron D 340 2.93GHz combo This mobo comes with built in sound, lan and crappy video. You will need a CPU fan though and it will probably come with some thermal paste too.
Pick your own case, there are tons out there. This one can go into Full Tower ATX cases and Mid Tower ATX cases. Some cases even come with a power supply, although they save you money they usually aren't the best in the world but they do the job. I would reccomend something with a 400 watt or more power supply.
CD/DVD burner
Memory that the mobo takes. Buy two if you need more than 256MB.
NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200 video card. Good performance for cheap.
80GB Hitachi hard drive, it should be more than enough.

That is what I would reccomend. All that (without a case and power supply) rings up to $308.93. Note that is without rebates applied!

If you need any more help you can PM me.

Don`t get a proprietary mobo (dell, compaq, emachine, packard bell, hp etc) and expect it to fit in a standard atx/micro atx case, As most of those oem`s use modified components such as mobo`s with agp or pci slots moved or shifted, So they don`t line-up with the slots in the back plate in a standard atx/micro atx case. I speak from experience.

Very good info guys, thanks. Thats bad news about the dell motherboard and things not lining up. And spending $300 dollars is alot more than spending like 30 bucks for a case. I just have all the pieces to a computer in my closet without any case for it all to go in. So i guess i will give up for now. Maybe i can find an old dell case for this to fit in on ebay.
