Well I was just thinking to myself about what I want in it...here goes :D :

1. 4 inch, 480 by 320(or 360)pixel, backlit(or OLED)display(possibly touchscreen)
2. an extra analog stick
3. 128 MB RAM
4. dual 300mhz cores with 3D support
5. long battery life(8+ hours) :D

What do you guys want?

wouldn't a 480x320 resolution be a little weird?

well, i'd want a 4" 640x480 TFT(are the ones available a good choice..ghosting?)
-more ram
-beefier cpu/3d accelerator

^that would make the system pretty expensive, though

Well, it's certainly early to wonder about a GP3X, but what the heck...

1) 3.5" - 4" 640x480 definitely (like the Dell Axim x50v)
2) 128MB RAM (or more) and 128MB NAND Flash
3) 400Mhz CPU minimum (or perhaps dual 300Mhz as you said)
4) Co-processor with 3D and 2D acceleration
5) Keep all the good ideas in GPX2, like TV-out, good battery life and accurate controls.
6) RTC (real time clock) - I wonder if GPX2 has one? I know the SOC supports it.

And keep it pocketable in size and sleek looking as possible.

A touchscreen and WiFi would also be damn cool, but I doubt they'd ever be added.

If a GP3X is ever made, it wouldn't be for at least 2 years I think, so all those things should be reasonable for a $200 device by then. I think. Just wish I could stop getting older - I may be dead by the time a "perfect" handheld finally gets made. :p

2. an extra analog stick

The GPX2 stick isn't analog. It's digital. (Thank God)

hey is the tv-out in gp2x on the system or would you have to buy a tvout cable or something?

I'm telling you if this stuff actually happens(i'm not sure about the 640*480 screen  )I would be playing(n64 and snes)non-stop until the next system comes out!

It seems like you want a XGP ;)! Only if the processor was more powerful there it could be an excellent machine. and probably it will be. Let's just wait 'till everything becomes clear there.
EDIT: And the RAM is 64 in XGP until now but it won't be that important 'cause I don't think that with the current XGP specs it is hard to make something only with bigger RAM.

1.) 6-billion Gigamegaflap Co-processor Intel Westchester Extreme to the MAX CPU with SSE9 and 4DNOW!. Oh, and I want like 5 of those too.

2.) Holographic screen that like shoots onto my wall bc like small screens are stupid.

3.) 38 buttons, but like they're all hidden so they don't get in the way unless you want them to bc they're cool like that

4.) There is no number four.

5.) Every game ever made, all available on one tiny chip the size of a grain of rice that I eat and then I can play the games in my mind, but still on the GP3X since it has to have telepathy, too. Cuz like what loser system doesn't have telepathy??

6.) A button that makes developers make cool games since they don't know how to yet.

7.) If I get a high score in galaga, the GP3X has to like build me a space ship and fly me to outer space so that I can prove my skills in the sky and become the Moon Master.

Worst. Thread. Ever.

Sounds like a dual-core Zodiac on speed. Or a modded PSP strapped to a pack of 6 D-cell batteries.

I want a proper volume dial and start/select buttons beside the control stick, and the headphone/DC ports in a sensible location. Possibly with dual 1GHz ARM11s and 256MB of RAM so it can emulate the GP32 (on top of PSX, N64, and all kinds of MAME titles)

I think its a not so good idea to have dual cores, i mean its good for most systems. But when it comes to handhelds with the games the only trouble is there being more difficulty for the person trying to program their specific app.

So in the next system, i would like to see 500-600mhz MINIMUM - single/dual core though we would need around 1ghz or higher if we want to emulate N64 or better perfectly.. Though if an emulator like corn were made, it could easily run on a 300mhz system (No joke!) i had no problems running mario 64 on that emulator full speed with full graphics on my old 366Mhz celeron, so its possible.

TV out option so we can play it on regular TV if we so choose, but the resolution would be a bit crappy?

256MB ram, 3D core capable of producing around 60 mill triangles/sec there abouts, or twice that of the PSP.

Wireless Network
and most obviously a 3d accelerator

Without these 2 features - its barely an advance in my opinon from the gp32.

640x480 Display perhaps with touchscreen : would be nice for many pc ports
400-500Mhz main cpu
2D and 3D acceleration (3D with openGL support ;) )
128MB Ram
Wlan
USB host
SDcards (still they best i think)

PS: i would only buy it if it would come out in like 3 years atleast ... i want to have fun with my gp2x first and want to see what the devs can do with it ;)

No, actually I would like the GP3X to bring new meaning
to the word "handheld".

Everyone who would like to use it would have to have their
heads modded with a wireless transmitter/receiver which the
device would use to feed the sensory signals directly to the brain.

The implant would also allow direct brain to brain connections to
allow unparallelled multiplayer capibility. Best of all you would
be able to play games undetected during meetings at work except if
you are the type of gamer who gets emotional while playing.

Now that would be eye-candy gaming.
