What About Porting Ffmpeg?

Hi

I'm just thinking that it could be useful to port ffmpeg (at http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/) to gp32. It can decode (and encode too) lots of video/audio formats, it is written in C...

And it includes "FFmpeg Simple Media Player", a simple player based on sdl...

SDL is already being ported, so maybe it wouldn't be so hard...

Unfortunately right now I have not any time to do this.

Anyway, do you think it could be useful/doable?

I emailed the guy to get the current status of the project. That's what he answered:

"I didn't get much farther than some custom make files and a few source
tweaks. The conclusion I came to was that the Gamepark's development
libraries threading implementation was too simple at the time to be of
any use, as threads are used extensively in ffmpeg.

I thought I'd just wait until the Linux port was semi-functional, and
then use that. :)

Sorry I'm not more help.

Graeme"

Maybe we have to wait for loki666's RTEMS port to be ready?
Or with Mr.Mirko's help?
