hey all

when i plug in the headphones into the gp2x, the sound comes out the head phones, AND the gp2x speakers :S

and also one headphone stops working shortly from when you start!

firmware issue?

thanks ;)

1.0.1

but we were looking at older threads, which i didnt know about before i started this thread, but it says about the head phones being diffrent to korea's or something, i think im gonna have to keep trying diffrent headphones lol

thanks anyway ;)

generally headphone/speaker switches are physically built into the jack itself. much as battery/ac switches are built into those jacks.

I have the same problem with my new (firmware 1.0.1) GP2X. I've tried with three sets of headphones but the speakers stay on all the time. Everything seems to fit okay, and the jack doesn't feel loose. Previous threads on the problem seem divided on whether this is a hardware or software issue.

I noticed this on the GP2X wiki:
(from GPIO Reference)
-- Audio --
L6 = Data out
L7 = Reset
L8 = Sync
L9 = Data In
L10 = Clock
L11 = Headphone jack detect

Could the 'Headphone jack detect' GPIO connection be related to this?

I read somewhere that you have to shove the jack in really hard (but not TOO hard, somebody broke theirs like that).

Yeah.. mine broke like that it didnt work in the first place, so i figured i had to open it up anyway.

the only way i found. To fix this is open it up and solder the 4 points better.. (woot i spelled it right for all you badboys)

Yeah, its a hardware issue or w/e you want to call it, you could return it and get a new one, but theres a high chance it will have the same problem hehe.

Hmm, I guess GPH knows about it, or they SHOULD know about that issue...
at first it worked fine for me, I just plugged it in so its not loose and the speaker stopped playing, but now always both play...
But since the headphones have stereo in 1.0.1 but the speakers dont... shouldnt it be possible to manually switch the speakers off? I wouldnt mind to hit another button to switch them off if I dont have to open it up or send it back cause of that.....

just my idea about it....

Carefull trying to many different headphones I had a pair that I broke two gp2x's with, If they only go in about half way DONT push them I learnt this the hard way (the headphones are now in little bits all over my bedroom floor) the headphone soket fell into the unit both times and I was hardly pushing with much force.
Somtimes music comes out of both the gp2x and my phones but I just have to (jiggle) the socket about a bit the it all works fine.
