like the topic says, is the built in MP3 player gonna have a visualiser? I'm bored to death of seeing just some info on the GP2X's crappy mp3 player. if anyone could answer me, it'll be great.
thanks!

Indeed. Also... One would have to ask, why in gods name you would look at the display to see some visual representation of the sound while you could close it and look at attractive members of what ever sex you happen to be interested in, (VERY politically correct here) or simply go brows the web. A media player on a mobile device is supposed to do as little as possible. Play the music, thats it. Visualizations like on DvDplayers and alike are there to save the screens from burn'ins. In this case... Shut of the screen, and save even more power.
B!
I would imagine the main use of only real use for a visualizer would be for those moments when you are sharing music through a TV and would like something better to look at than the media player's interface.Mr B said:Indeed. Okay, I have to ask: Is that really a social passtime? Sitting together in front of a TV, watching pseudo-psychedelic contrabulations, vaguely in synch with the music playing?mindlord said:I would imagine the main use of only real use for a visualizer would be for those moments when you are sharing music through a TV and would like something better to look at than the media player's interface.
My thoughts exactly, Give us the meat without the fluff.whiskthecat said:Seems like a stupid waste of battery power.
The SDL_mixer library has callbacks for scopes and other such stuff so it wouldn't be difficult. Since the SDL libraries are very likely to get ported to the Pandora it shouldn't be a problem.MarkoeZ said:lol, although i agree with the fact it's pointless and battery consuming, i would like the feature as an option, if only for the look-what-i-have-factor If i got a sexy machine like the pandora im gonna show off with it
And at a small party, visualisations really work well as a background, and im not even talking about ppl who have mushroom parties (mariokart i mean, u understand )
But some video/demo/other guru will probably write one eventually, not worried about that

Yes.
Well actually maybe not on the Pandora, it's a little small. But at times I like to just sit and listen to music so a vis on my pc works well there. It's also good to throw up on a tv at parties with the same reasoning as disco lights.
A portable MOD player, in general, would be fantastic.Samurai_Crow said:BTW, I consider listening to instrumental music saved as compressed sound samples like Ogg Vorbis and MP3 to be a waste of memory anyway and music module files or MIDI files should be used if possible. Reserve the streamed sample formats for songs with vocals that can't be stored otherwise. Furthermore, MIDIs can be converted to .XM or .IT format using ModPlug Tracker under Windows.
