Hi all,

Since toyz4boyz removed the GPS unit for GP32 from their offerings, I have been looking into GPS units i could integrate with the GP32 myself.

For example, a compact unit such as this sanav USB device.

How difficult would it be to
1) Swap the standard USB plug with a gp32 compatible one
2) Add an external battery pack (as the USB is unpowered)
3) Write a low-level driver to communicate with the device using the existing sources that spiv(?) wrote for the vapourware GPS, and the USB sources for PhoDrive?

Is it do-able?

I don;'t really know much on the subject, but at least GPS units follow a standard protocol for their output data, and I imagine the data is quite simple to process..

not sure if it would be worth the effort (potential for some interesting projects but did much use come of the gp32 one?) Depends how challenging it turns out to be ;)

good luck
