Hi, I know I have just signed up but I have spent the last few days reading about the GP32, in a interview somewhere I read that they are going to release the console to the western market, does anyone know anything more about this? If I am perfectly honest I cant see it being stocked in a shop like GAME, but I dont know, maybe if they released some more decent games (sorry....) and then its possible I guess, if you overlook the fact they have only sold 15,000 : P

Okay, I am only 14 and I am not VERY keen on programming however I know HTML ect and I am willing to learn. Is it worth me getting a GP32? I would mainly want it for:

Music Videos - in easy steps : P
Home grown games
Testing the limits of handhelds
Stand out from the GBA'ers (although I have one : P )

Is it possible to make games easily? Even if they suck? Or edit games? Thanks..... £150 is alot to spend on something which may be useless to me.

i would reccomend thet you get a gp32, i havent got one (until april) but i have played my mate clives one, i spent a lot of time editing roms using specific programs (change text ect) which can be very fun!, i would also reccomend it for a portable media player as it is good for mp3s, and veally cool for watching divx (i have put jackass the movie and two towers on my mates smc's), i the emus at the moment are cool ,and they are progressing every day, so a full speed+sound snes emu should eventually arise, also a gba emu as this would be really cool to show off the systems power. also on gbax.com you can get one for about £117 inc p+p, which if you think about it is a very good deal if you dont think of the gp32 as a handheld gaming device, but a portable fully functional media player.
Have fun

the price is about £104 from Lik Sang (Airmail). However, wherever you buy, you need to factor in the costs of Customs & Excise, which can be pretty much ANYTHING (use 20-25% as a guess).

there are rumours about a UK release, but Gamepark aren't particularly partial to replying to their email. I last spoke to Gamepark in September last year, and they suggested a UK release before Christmas 2003...

Yes, they were going to release it in the UK this Christmas, but their European distributor broke the contract (!!!). I guess they can get away with it, because Gamepark is probably too small to risk suing them.

I don't suggest you get it for the commercial games, as most are in Korean (although there are some good ones, but Antonishia Story R, the hit RPG on the platform, is still not translated, though they're working on it).
Get it for the DivX movies (not just music videos; you can fit a whole movie onto a 128 Mb SMC), the Mp3 player, and the emulators.

Did I say emulators? Yep. Play thousands of games (some 16-bit) full-speed. GBA emulator in the process of being created.

Check out the following websites; they are the best English ones for frequent GP32 updates or information.

http://www.gbax.com/gp32review.html this is a review of the GP32. Check the parent site for a good place to buy the system and products.

http://gp32.emu.pl/ this is the parent site of this board. A bit slower with updates currently than it used to be (due to real life issues), but it's still one of the best.

http://gp32emu.com/ a site dedicated to emulation on the GP. It's gotten a facelift recently and updates pretty frequently.

http://www.gp32news.com the english branch of a French site. They update frequently and seem to have better access to Gamepark than the rest of the population; check the "Documents" section for recent interviews with Gamepark.

also check out http://www.gamepark.tk ; jlebrech's homely-looking site :) . It's a good start for beginners on how to get things working, etc.

This is a little bit off the subject but I wanted to know if the divx player runs at a good speed and if a movie or even a half hour TV show takes up a lot of space
thx :D

10-12 fps in current version (NOT as bad as it sounds), but runs up to speed with no slowdown, has perfect sound.
Amount of space taken depends on the quality of the video, I think.

A 30 minute film should take up around 22mb (not that much on a 128mb SMC), but it may vary quite a bit.

Thanks for the replys!

Is it easy to edit games? And what will I need, I would even get a buzz out of editing some text. I think I will get one, just I thought I may be a bit late as some websites havent added for a few months.
