Here is Typhoon 2001, a freeware remake of Tempest
preview1.png

The game use box86 and gl4es. I needed to hack the binary to force the game to use 32bits for textures (the game internaly use Allegro, and because the Pandora runs on 16bits, it was converting all texture to 16bits no transparency, making the game unplayable).
Go to settings to alter graphics, you may find better settings (especially if you need more fps)

You know tempest surely? You know, it's an upright cab with the spinniest of spinners on it, or maybe you met it as one of Jeff Minters games on the Jaguar or various odd DVD players in the day?

As a game it's just a kind of 1d shooter - like an old scrolling shooter but where you can't move forwards or back only up and down along a single axis, but presented as a 3d tube. To be honest, it's not the most complex game, it's really more about the visual experience and the weird controllers especially on the original unit.

This shows how it ran on PC about 6 years ago:
I'm not sure if it's changed that much since then. It seems to me quite hard to spot the enemies, but that may be because of all the mayhem coming down from the top of the tube. But that seems something that might need to be tweaked on the Pandora.

Yeah, I find the same today (at least on the Pandora).
