I was wondering if you could develope a special TV link for the GP32 that attaches to it's ext. port. You can just plug the link into your TV and it would automatically record any shows that you are watching like the Arcos movie player. Is that possible?
You could even play a movie from a dvd player or vcr on your TV and simulaneously record it to your GP32! ;)

In a short anwer, NO, the gp32 will not record stuff from ur TV, but it may b possible to make some sorta cable or mod so u can connect it to ur TV to play on a big screen maybe even that may only b a dream!!!!!

Even if someone could create a program which automatically encoded the video before storing it in a SMC?

P.S.
I was not drunk, but I was just interested in finding out whether someone could develop fast encoding software that runs on a GP32 and interperates the data and encodes it at the same speed as a TV can play it.

I'd agree, some of the replies have been a bit harsh, although this post shouldn't be in the GP Cinema forum.

Just for those who are wondering, there is no way to get TV in or out from the EXT port. The signals on the EXT port have nothing to do with the display, and the general-purpose communications signals (UARTs, JTAG etc) do not have the capabilities needed to produce a TV output.

For video input, the GP32 CPU does not have even 1/10 of the processing power to do real-time compression (MPEG4 etc). It only just manages to play back video, and decoding is a much easier job than encoding.

It might be possible to make a TV interface that would plug into the LCD connector... I'm going to look into that at some stage, but because it requires major internal surgery on the GP32, it's never going to be a mainstream option :)

you could mod a s-video cable i guess
but then you would need the drivers for that
so it's sort of possible

btw use the seach option

ok...i WAS a bit harsh...but it simply doesn't have the space on a smc...nor the power to encode divx quickly...
