I'm trying to get TP-Link TL-WN725N usb wifi adapter to work.

According to the usb compatibility list on the wiki this should work out of the box, but network manager tells that there are no network devices available.

I have disabled internal wifi and enabled usb host.

last few lines from dmesg

[  117.249633] usb 2-2: Manufacturer: Realtek

Any ideas?

Try updating the OS (System -> Upgrade Pandora OS).

I think the drivers were added just 2 months ago.

We are in the same boat... :( I also have the TP-Link TL-WN725N USB wifi and it does NOT work!

And WinTech LUA-15 USB to Ethernet adapter too (mcs7830 driver) should work but unfortunately not :( .

Pandora recognizes both of them tough, according to "sudo lsusb" and "dmesg" .

Now i'm searching on raspb pi forums if anyone knows how to use them "oob".

Edit: Ahm, I'm on 1.55 SuperZaxxon (so drivers should be ok for the USB adapters...)

I copied the file to /lib/modules/3.2.45/kernel/drivers/net/wireless and ran the following commands

sudo depmod -a

sudo modprobe 8188eu

and it works.

Thank you very much.

Thank you notaz! Unfortunately i just put my Pandora back to it's box because of touch screen issue. I'm sending it back for RMA. After I get it back i will also try your compiled driver. For the time being I will check the usb-ethernet adapter's id and post it here. THANK YOU!

@notaz

I checked the Wintech LUA-15 USB-Ethernet adapter on my android phone via OTG and i got the following info from dmesg:

New USB device found, idVendor=9710, idProduct=7830

New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3

Product: USB-MAC Controller

Manufacturer: Moschip Semiconductor (id code 9710 also shows this: http://www.pcidatabase.com/vendor_details.php?id=1660 )

SerialNumber: 6e0002c5

Oh and of course the black side of this : "rejected 1 configuration due to insufficient available bus power" oh well there goes the android phone

Blah.... I hope Pandora will have enough on USB port "A" (500mA ought to be enough...)

I think I saw some other devices with the same 7830 chip which as i remember worked on Pandora, according to the USB compatibility list. So i may be possible for this adapter to function OK! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you for your help!

Edit: Sorry! Mistyped the adapter name all time :p . Wintech LAU(!)-15 and it works with RasPi! See this: http://elinux.org/RPi_USB_Ethernet_adapters

Looks like some driver issue, maybe fixed in newer kernels? If you could find a fix commit, I could try backporting it.

I only found drivers for it on the manufacturer's site here:

http://www.wintech-computer.de/treiber/LAU-15_49F_Driver201012.rar

This includes Linux drivers (7830)

But the release notes state this below. So maybe not working with the 3.2 kernel used in SZ 1.55 :(

----------------------------------------------------

This code is tested with  following Linux Kernels

    1) FC2 kernel version 2.6.5-1.358
    2) FC3 kernel version 2.6.9-1.667
    3) FC4 kernel version 2.6.11-1.1369
    4) FC5 kernel version 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5
    5) FC6 kernel version 2.6.18-1
    6) FC7 Kernel version 2.6.21-1.3194.FC7
    6) kernel versions 2.6.16.1, 2.6.17.7 on FC5
    7) Added FC7 support
Other distributions support:

          1) Mandriva 2007
    2) Ubuntu 6.10
    3) SUSE 10.3

Anyways i'm trying to get my hands one of these for testing,

http://www.edimax.com/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=296&pl1_id=5&pl2_id=26

one of my relatives had it in their family but not even use it so i'd asked them if i could test it on my pandora. We'll see the results if it works out or not.

^ I have that same 3 Port USB hub with Ethernet adapter.. it works good.

I bought that usb wifi dongle yesterday, but it doesn't work.

I updated the OS and copied the module, but "sudo depmod -a", returns a segmentation fault, and "sudo modprobe 8188eu" returns Invalid module format.

Then I did "uname -a" and realized that the kernel version didn't match (now 3.2.52), so I think this is the problem.

I don't know how to compile a module in the pandora itself. Please notaz, ¿could you compile again the module for this version of the kernel?

Thanks in advance.

Andrés J. Ros

The module now comes with the kernel, something probably went wrong with your update.

Thanks!, You're right!, nothing went wrong with the update!. This afternoon I've downloaded the kernel modules from the repository. Then I've replaced the module and reboot the Pandora. Now it works

Thanks again. Great work.
