Couldn't be bothered to read to the end of the post?

OMG, I had just the BEST IDEA EVER.
We just take the touch off the top screen, add another one with touch at the bottom and use a virtual keyboard instead of real keys! Then everyone will be happy with their key layouts and 2 screens!!!1 lolz then we can put hose buttons at sides of the botm scren and get rid of the usels anlaogz.
wait that's a DS. hm.

We could claim the Pandora does multitouch then! Touch one screen, touch the other screen, MULTITOUCH!

It is probably the closest ancestor - though not in a direct line - to the Pandora (ARM processor).'Karel Jansens' said:To all those who would question the usefullness of a touchscreen on a clamshell, I invite you to buy a Psion 5mx (they can be had pretty cheaply these days) and see how that works out for you.
In the end, it is all in the user interface design. Do not expect the touchscreen to be very useful with a "standard" Linux distro (which is, after all, geared towards a three-button mouse and a huge monitor), but I am sure someone has thought about Linux and touchscreens. Right? Surely someone must have?
Agreed, but Psion´s user interface is sofar the only one that really works on a handheld that combines keyboard and touchscreen.
And by "work" I mean: "Allows you to get work done", not "Show off flashy graphics on trade shows". (I´m not dissing the Zaurus here)
Yeah - I was kinda dreaming of this as well. Not two FULL sized touch screens mind-you. But a smaller one at the bottom, the exact size as the keyboard, leaving the game controls + analog nubs.'maxSteiner' said:Two touch screens would be sweet
'Raz' said:3) This way, your analog nub doesn't wear out. A stylus can be replaced with a pencil or pen.
But what about wear/tear/scratch on the screen? I had a cheap $20-Sudoku game that came with a touch screen and stylus. After about 2 years, part of the screen went dead and wouldn't respond to touching.
'Raz' said:4) More accurate than using the analog
There's something about using the nubs as a mouse controller that's nagging me. The nubs return to the center when you release them, right? What would that make the mouse pointer do? Also return to the middle of the screen? Wouldn't that be difficult to keep in calibration?
As for uses for the touch screen, I can just imagine how much easier Duck Hunt would be on a touch screen Or card games. Can you imagine playing Solitaire and being able to actually _touch_ the cards? Oh wait, I suppose I could do that with an actual deck of cards. But no deck of cards could also play some MP3 at the same time, could it?
PS: Annoying, these little '' guys, aren't they?
I've had a Proporta screen protector sitting waiting patiently for the Pandora's release...'sverm' said:But what about wear/tear/scratch on the screen?

Two years? Dude, you got your $20 of use out that and then some! Be thankful it didn't give up after a couple months.

True enough, but it was when I was sitting in the doctor's waiting room that it decided to die on me (appropriate place, when you think about it). I usually try to be as careful as possible with my stuff cause I hate having to replace a piece of hardware that I like and have gotten comfortable with. I expect many years of returns from the Pandora.
Thank you, saves me looking for one!'fischju2000' said:
