THE NUMBERS IMAGE THREAD!

Yup. It does now.

This is how it appeared here:

2017-07-06 18:14 UTC: FBnil posts image for 1075.
2017-07-07 11:44 UTC: JustSimon posts image for 1076
2017-07-07 20:45 UTC: Preorder #1075
2017-07-07 21:00 UTC: Preorder #1076

Maybe my information source is invalid? I'm using http://p.rdw.se/preorder_stats_dedup.txt. (Well, actually, i do:

curl -s http://p.rdw.se/preorder_stats_dedup.txt | tee pyra-stats.txt | tail -n1 | cut -f3 -d' '

.)

Or maybe FBnil and JustSimon are on to an interesting phenomenon: perhaps posting an image here prematurely actually nudges the orders forward?! :)

Yeah, the stalker link checks the pages every five minutes IIRC, while the preorder_stats.txt pages work on a 15 minute period.
Oops! Missed this post. (It was on the next page.)

Seems to be a difference of many hours rather than a few minutes though, if FBnil and JustSimon got their numbers from the stalker.

In any case, this stalker link will save me downloading the entire preorder stats file every time I want to know if the numbers changed. :)

wow... fascinating theory. Why not put it to the test? Post an image for 1077 and we will see... (I'll shit bricks if it does though... it means that in order to measure, say, an electron, the electron WANTS to be measured for us to be able to measure it)

Seems to work! :p

Not sure if I agree with your conclusion though (which is possibly fortunate for the porcelain in your bathroom): If the electron could want to be measured, it could also think about it's own state, and it would be forever collapsing its own wave function.

Order 1077 was before 21:00 CEST according to the dedup list. Your post was at 23:45 BST, which I make to be almost four hours later; causality seems safe so far.
And what if it was the INTENT to post?

This experiment actually forces you to think light knows it is being observed, then going back in time to modify it's behavior....

Here is a re-explanation of the same:

Ok, second experiment, posting 1078 while 1077 is still in the http://stalker.openpandora.org/preorder.json

3, 2, 1... posting
[doublepost=1499592196][/doublepost]Did not work. Although the data is 3 minutes old:

{
"EU2": 6,
"EU4": 540,
"SE2": 14,
"SE4": 284,
"US2": 3,
"US4": 230,
"timestamp": "2017-07-09T09:20:02.950214",
"total": 1077
}
[doublepost=1499594498][/doublepost]:( my conjecture has to be discarded. New data has invalided it:

"timestamp": "2017-07-09T10:00:03.781637",
"total": 1077

Yup -- I was just playing along with FBnil's suggestion. It wouldn't have been any fun if we hadn't really been at 1077 after my post, so I checked before I posted it. :p

I was a bit amazed, actually, that we'd really got to 1077 so soon; the numbers seem to be climbing again. :)
[doublepost=1499613181,1499613007][/doublepost]What I should have written in that last post (with which this one will be inevitably merged) is that I was having problems with my time machine -- that's why I had my Time meter out -- and so I was at a different "when" when I posted 1077 than I intended to be. :p

Posting one tenth of the actual number, just to see how it will affect the next one ...

I haven't had a chance to preorder yet so if I posted an image for 1078 then preordered would I have broken causality?

Images of number 1080 are impossible! Aside from graphics cards, every image on the Internet with a resolution of 1080 in any dimension gets found!

Hey!!! When did I become a "Member"?! (Up to now, I've always been "Still Fresh".)

You can probably change that now; see mine for an example. I was an 'advanced member' from when those were introduced though, so I don't know who else has that capability. Doesn't seem sensible to me to limit it to just advanced members though.

Edit: Damn slow site today making me double post apparently.

What makes this so hard to find

What makes that so hard to find is that I didn't know I was looking fo that! :p And it wasn't in my first thousand or so hits.

Yup, slowest I've ever seen it. It's encouraging, I think. Suggests that a lot of people are tracking the Pyra news forum.
