The MIST FPGA

Is it safe to use those on the MIST? I know they can break a Commodore 64.
Yes they are safe to use here. I have used an unmodified Megadrive Controller without any problems (which I wouldn't risk with my real amiga).

Do someone knows if MIST is programmed in verilog/vhdl or with hls ?
Verilog/VHDL is used for core development. The MistFPGA is based on Altera Cyclone III

I have another question. Can I adapt the VGA output to component with a passive adapter? Or does it have to support sync-on-green? The schematic they have for the adapter on the MiST wiki combines in the sync signals, but I don't have the space to work to build one, so I was hoping I could use something like this:

Code:
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-adapter-breakout-HD15-component/dp/B00213KFHW/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1540522142&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=vga+to+component&dpPl=1&dpID=41YdLpk0jCL&ref=plSrch

^ I've only used an active VGA to component adapter with the MiST before. I was looking at something like that but there where too many questions if it would work or not.

I can't even find those, unfortunately. Another question I had is, if I plug a Genesis controller into the 9 pin port, will it be able to use all the buttons? It would be nice for the Genesis or NES core.
