The Essentials

* Points to sig with glee *

Also, don't forget to try out gneogeo ... Blazing Star is impressive.

my favorites for atari 2600: berzerk, boxing, pole position, pitfall, secret quest (probably my biggest favorite), adventure

NES: contra, tmnt, shatterhand, buckeroos, roger rabbit, any megaman - esp 3, rollergames, zelda, mario 3 yadda yadda

it depends on what you like. start with what you know and go from there.

favorite port/dos-era: quake

must-have homebrew: vektar, tilematch, lady killer

try it all, it's free! :)

Hmm, I'm going to give playing it another go... *hears gp2x boot jingle*

Severely off-topic, does anyone know that PSX RPG with the stuff? You could do lots of stuff... it was completely non-linear. That was its big selling point -- it had graphics like an snes title, but almost 200 hours of play time. It had a sequel which was actually a prequel I think. Hmmm...

was it not suikoden?

Well I could recommend some games if I knew what you were mainly into. I guess I can give some names to my personal favs on different systems.

Atari 2600: Pitfall

NES: Kid Ikarus, Section Z, Blaster Master, Battle Toads, Castlevania 1-3, Contra, Super Contra, Ghosts n Goblins

Genesis/Megadrive: M.U.S.H.A (Aleste), Thunderforce 2-4, Herzog Zwei (messed up in DrMDX :( ), Verytex, Shining In the Darkness, Shining Force 1-3, Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Heady, Alien Soldier, Gaiares, Gleylancer, Mega Turrican

PC-Engine/Turbogfx: Nutopia 1-2, Dungeon Explorer 1, Air Zonk, Super Star Soldier, Soldier Blade, Cadash, Coryoon, Download, Dead Moon, Bomberman, Bomberman 94, Blazing Lazers/Gunhed

Amiga: Shadow of the Beast 1-3 (hard games but good), Agony, Blood Money, Xenon 1-2, all Turrican games

Atari ST: Nebulus, Wiz Ball, Speed Ball, GODS, Buggy Boy, Wrath of the Demon, Time Bandits, Major Motion (Sly Spy clone) too many more to list.

NeoGeo: Blazing Star, Pulstar, Viewpoint, Crossed Swords, Magician Lord, Magical Drop 3, Metal Slug series

MAME: to many to list as well. go to a site called MAWS to see whats available up to the recent build of GP2XMame. With the gamelist.txt you can find what games are available.

Ok that should keep you busy enough. Sorry for the long list. There's just a lot of good games out there that play really well on the GP2X. :)

The STGs above are my favorites too :)

Some of my favorites include Wonderboy V, Curse in DrMDx, Zelda series in Gameboy, Psycho Chaser in hu6280 ;P

For SNES, not all my favorite STGs (e.g. R-Type III) can play smoothly, so I just pick the RPGs like Final Fantasy series, Dragon Quest and Earthbound.

I do hope Halley wars in Famicom Disk System be playable as GPFCE progresses...

btw, Too bad fMSX is not updated anymore... otherwise Space Manbow, Gradius/Nemesis/Salamander series, Aleste, Zanac is nice.
