I wouldn't be surprised if some dev writes a quick shell script to figure it out. It would just be a matter of increasing the clock speed by a bit, doing a stability test, and if it passes, writing out the clock speed to a file (overwriting its contents). It would keep looping till the stability test failed (often apparent because the device just hangs/kernel panic).
 
My GP2X F200 was only stable at 250mhz. For some stuff, 260mhz - but when the battery got low-ish it'd freeze. If I wanted an extra hour, I had to drop it to 250mhz.

Luckily 250mhz was enough for most emulators, with frameskipping on.
