Release Streets of Rage Remake

The 4:3 mode doesn't work with version 5.2 and gl4es, it becomes stretched to fullscreen (I just can't look at the game this way o_O).

At the beginning the game is only a bit slower, but sometimes becomes super slowmotion, depending on quantity of enemies and background effects.

I also see that when the game doesn't start, the desktop where i tried to run it becomes glitched or don't refresh anymore.
Odd I'm using it without issue, and it's keeping the 4:3 perspective and It's not sluggish at all throughout the game as I have beat several stages without issues. but of course having to nuke my save game and setting every play is a let down.

Damn it's really fast, and it doesn't stretch

Is it possible that you are using a different gl4es than mine ?

I don't remember if the one I am using was already there in the system or if I installed from apt-get.

Think I'm using the apt-get version as I went back to Buster after hopping on a few newer releases that just didn't work as well.

I was able to run the game all fullspeed (if not even faster), but it's not totally clear how it works ...

Looking at your video I found many differences from mine, for example in my case the game was starting automatically at fullscreen, and the ingame option to put it in window mode was disabled, etc... , so I found at least two things that can make a huge difference.

1) "system.txt" file, I had it set up as "PC", when I substituted that option with "HANDHELD" the game became super fast, but almost all the ingame video options were missing (and also the possibility to play in 2 player mode...), there is also a setting to manage the fullscreen/sync, so the options there can change things

2) the "ALT+ENTER" hotkey changes things in strange ways ... at the beginning I was unable to select window mode inside the game, but after pressing ALT+ENTER, the game went in window mode and the ingame option became selectable ... also, when trying 4:3 mode, by default it became stretched, but doing a couple of times "ALT+ENTER" the image became right even in fullscreen ...

I think that the game is not completely able to deal with the resolution/aspect managed by gl4es, and if it saves these information in the save file this could be the cause of the "corruption".

A bit of the trouble debugging this is the code that handles the save game is built into the closed compiled SoRR binary data and not with the open source bennugd engine that executes it.

Considering that for a week I was able to play without corruption with gl4es, I think that at least should be possible to find the right combination of settings that gives no trouble to the save file ...

I hope that the settings to speed up things are not directly involved in the corruption ...

Days ago I searched for some kind of save editor for SORR but found nothing ...

Sometime this week I plan on having a session with my Pyra and see if I can see anything with the debugger running.
