Some PNDs don't open

Okay so I have been happy with my Pandora but I have come across a problem after a few days of use. Chromium doesn't launch anymore, it did before but not now. I ran the pnd_run.sh installer but that didn't fix it (I think it installed). From the out file it is saying that it is already mounted. How do I unmount it or fix this problem. Another problem is sometimes I can't launch any system app (wifi, cpu speed, etc). Also sonic robo blast 2 doesn't run but there is no out file, is it having the same problems or does it not work. Did I already mess up my Pandora so soon?

I would have prefered a post in the beta thread (easier from me to keep trace...) but well.

These are 2 interesting bugs.

Chromium :

You have a pnd mounted on /mnt/utmp/chromium but this one dont seems to contain chrome.sh (see first error). Seem strange (do you have 2 differents chromium PND ?).

You can umount it using :

/usr/pandora/scripts/pnd_run.sh -p /media/PND_APPS/pandora/apps//Chromium.pnd -b chromium -u

(rebooting will do something like that too)

The op_wifi one trouble me much more. I'll add more debuging information in the log for that in next release.

If roboblast2 dont produce any log I'ld challenge that pnd_run.sh have been called.

Outside of throwing it down a set of stairs, it's really REALLY hard to unfixably break your Pandora. I have three steps to solving weird PND issues that seem to work pretty well:

0. Make sure your Pandora is upgraded to the latest officially released Hotfix.

1. Restart the Pandora and try it again.

2. If that doesn't work, delete the application's folder from /pandora/appdata/(appName), then go back to step 1.

3. If that doesn't work, the PND might be corrupted, so download a new copy and go back to step 1.

If it doesn't work at that point, it might be a bad PND. Come into IRC (#openpandora on freenode.net) and folks will be happy to walk you through any further troubleshooting.

Thanks for the advice. Yes i have the hotfix 5 from the apps site. Sorry about not posting this in the run_pnd thread, i don't have a gp32x account. I tried the pnd.sh command but it failed with the error in the txt file. I deleting chromium settings folder and got a new pnd of it too. Still had the same problem. Should I go back to the origignal pnd_run? For the system apps they work every other time the pandora is booted up. So they aren't getting shutdown properly.

else this pnd_run.sh wouldnt have run.... :)

Not sure that's the idea. yet if you realy want to :

Code:
sudo mv /usr/pandora/scripts/pnd_run.sh.2011* /usr/pandora/scripts/pnd_run.sh

should do the trick.

But I'm pretty sure that wont fix your chromium issue. May I see the result of :

mount

sudo losetup -a

ls -la /mnt/utmp/chromium

For the system apps they work every other time the pandora is booted up. So they aren't getting shutdown properly.
I would like to see the first log of the op_wifi after a fresh boot. And the result of the previous commands after it failed to start them.

(Once I get why it fail, I should be able to fix them all)

Okay i got the results that you wanted. Good boot and bad boot means if the Pandora could use or not use the system apps. I just thought it would be good to have the results from both conditions even though you probably won't need them. The rest of the file name should be simple. I did run before the problems "sudo dpkg update" and "sudo dpkg install cifs" so i could connect to my network files. It shouldn't matter but it might be related some how, i don't know. I won't go back to the old pnd_run.sh since it won't fix the problem. Just ask for any other results if you need them.

Thanks for you effort. But I'm still puzzled.

The thing that surprise me the most is the number of lines mount return. And most are duplicate....

I never saw that.

I would go with a reflash.

I did a reflash of hotfix 3 because i thought hotfix 5 didn't include the older fixes. i was wrong and canceled about half of the update. then i flashed 5 and it rebooted, still the same problem. I reflashed 5 again and still the same problem. :( now i have some double system app shortcuts in the menu. what is the best course of action?

Did you really REFLASH with HF5 or download the HF5 Updater PND?

A fresh system won't have double system apps for sure...

 well i thought it was really small to contain the whole OS. so yes i did have the pnd not the zip containing all of the real stuff. i did the correct reflash and it is now working. :)
