There are so many Pandora Handheld for sale on eBay at the moment I wonder why there are so many for sale seeing there are less than 4000 units in the world?
Because Pandora isn't for everyone? Because (dare I say it?) it requires a modicum of intelligence and the willingness to apply oneself to using it? Some people bought it thinking it's another GP2X or Canoe, and it quite obviously isn't.
D.
I agree with you it's definitely not a plug and play machine but it could have been made that way and I think it should have been I hope someone does bring out a decent open sores plug and machine with a 5" to 7" screen
There's also a possibility that there are Pandora's for sale
because there are only 4,000 in the world. If there is enough demand, a person (who, say, Pre-ordered their unit) could probably sell their Pandora for more than they payed for it.
Additionally, I don't understand the mentality that the Pandora isn't "Plug-And-Play". My GP2X Was usually not "Plug-And-Play", because regardless of device, the company producing the system (or the developers) can't legally give you, say, BIOs or ROMs to use in an emulator.
In fact, I would argue the Pandora is more of a Plug-And-Play device that my GP2X was. I can remove my SD card while my device is still on, load a PND onto it, and when I put the SD card back in it loads it within seconds. Unless you are trying to use an emulator, than you need to load your ROMs, and maybe your BIOs onto the card too. If a emulator is special (Not many are anymore), than just follow the documentation. It's really not that complicated.
If you've used a computer for a few years and know how to get around Finder/Explorer/File Manager, than you shouldn't have any problems with using a Pandora. Not unless you're trying to do something complicated, like telling your unit to take screenshots when keys are pressed, that it becomes an adventure.
The Pandora is Open Source, it does have a good sized screen and it's a decent device. It comes with an optional Desktop or MiniMenu, which is a lot like Open2x was for the GP2X.
