The GP32 needs no special file on the SMC. You just chose what you want to use and put that on the SMC. The Firmware will tell the Hardware what to do; there's really not much to it.
Simple example: If you want to play NES and have a new, store-bought SMC, what you do is format the card, copy over Little John (or whatever Emulator you prefer), copy the roms and the card is ready for use. Nothing else required.
