I was just wondering if michael put the new MP'ed pieces of the puzzle in an old case? If yes how did it feel/fit/look.

Basically are you happy with them?

And what are you going to do with them ship them to devs or do they go to craig or to the case compagny?

The boards are good so far, we are probably going to be starting mass production slightly earlier than mentioned in the last couple of weeks. Making those cases the bottleneck again ;)

Thanx craig,

Mass production meaning the remaining 3895 boards any idea what size microbatches the factory is going to produce?
Nice to hear the 105 are good (any failure rate known?) hehe looks like boards and cases are battling away for being bottlenecks, how about neither of them being one ;)

So I assume you guys are confident that no issues will arise in FCC/CE testing? I wouldn't expect anything to come up, but if you're confident enough to risk more than just the first 105 not passing certification, we should be in pretty good shape hardware wise.

We did some constant testings during development, not fully accurate, but if there had been something really bad, we would've seen it.
Also, I'm going to take a board with everything together for a preview testing. If a board emits something, it will be worse without a case, so if that test is fine without any problems, the final one will, too.
This is going to cost a bit more, but it definately speeds things up, as we don't have to wait for the final case to start the mass production of all of the boards.

The Case produktion cost us the 8 days where the chinese workers go to vacation, but in this time, whe can make the boards?, thats great, so whe dont must wait until the first 100 units are ready and all customers get theyr units whitout any "extra Wurst"(extra hotdog), (if there be any german user, please translate the meantion of extra wurst to english, thangs)

great news, it will be hard for the naysayers to find fault in this. Spending money you don't have to speed things up? Thanks for the extra effort!

Good to hear that MP of boards may start early. I don't really get whats going on with the cases but. I'm not angry or anything but I understand that it was estimated it would finish around the 10th of September. Anyways the 8 day delay was suppose to happen around October so what I wanna know is, if theres an additional delay inbetween these dates causing it to be moved up to October or mid October or are the moulds finished and what would of been delayed is mass production. I know there was a massive topic on this but there were too many pages to read and mostly had irrelevent information.

Thanks for the information, hopefully I recieve my Pandora before Christmas cause it would be the greatest gift.

rofl, extra hotdog :D
if someone wants to have an extra wurst, he thinks he´s special and MUST get things earlier/in a special way.

Good to hear that the massproduction starts early now.

cant the FCC/CE test use one of the prototipe Cases (the CNC one?)?

that would give the proyect some days of advantage (unless the guy went unexpectedly on holidays)

I remember this question being asked before, the answer was no because the fcc testing specifically required a final product.

The "pre-testing" they are doing now with fcc is just for thier own peace of mind that it will pass the "real testing" once they have the final cases, that way they can start mass production of the boards without any worries.

CE can (and everyone kind of assumed that's what they were going to do, but they haven't for reasons that make sense to them but are still mysterious to us) but FCC requires a finished product which will be sold and shipped.
As I understand, ED is going to do the tests without the case, which won't give them the actual certification, but it will give them the knowledge that it will pass once the case is added.

edit: ooo, too slow :(

The 8th and 10th of September loomed, and the case moulds were not finished. The manufacturers have not got the mould ready in time, and there is an excellent chance - with the upcoming "Golden Week" holiday - that they will not have time to finsih the mould/s AND crank out the cases AND get them shipped before October intrudes. They are "working on it" - and also working on other customer's mouldings. They probably want to tidy the factory up nice and neat so may be shuffling their schedule to best achieve that - this may mean that some companies get their goods earlier and some later. We may be on the "later" list. Whatever their reason for not meeting their estimate (rather than "deadline") until it is done, it's not done - and the closer we get to Oct 1st the greater the chance that progress - even unseen, unreported progress way over in China, will simply cease for 8 days - so if technically the case mould is ready at the end of Sept or beginning of Oct, we still won't seem them manufactured until over a week later.

It would seem that OpenPandora isn't going to shut down along with China though, and may be able to get at least some board and possibly fist-run CE and FCC pre-testing done in that time.

Thats no problem: the Board produktion will cost time, and when it isnt down, you can nothing make whit the cases (mybe make a big tower, or make a table whit them) so the pandora produktion going a bit faster than when whe must whait until the 105 pandora are ready, in the time where the cases going in produktion, the board produktion is working

Well, if the CE testing passes without a case, then everything should be good to go.
