Hmmm, 18 hours at the recommended adaptor of 1 amp. Good luck finding an 18Ah battery for £30 that'll provide you with 3.3V (or 12V if you intend to use voltage regulation).

Actually, I have a 12V 5Ah battery here from a battery backup system you could probably use. Sealed lead acid, weighs about 10 pounds or so. Should keep the GP2X going for about 18 - 20 hours :)

Haha, that what I was thinking, still I think the best thing you could do would be to put lots of these in parallel. If you bought alot of them you could probably get alot of power, and they are rechargeable.

well it was a nice pipe dream.... what hours do you guys get from your bats's... my GP2X dosent even use up all the juice from the bat's. If i stick them in anything ells like say a tape recorder they will keep it going for ages... :(

The same thing happens with all batteries that the gp2x uses because it needs more power from the batteries to function than most things do. I get about 4 hours on my 2500 batteries. It's not great, but I just carry an extra set of them around with me and I'm fine. They're really cheap so if you want some more time to play, just pick up another 4 pack.

Wow! Two of those in series would do the job for about, what, just under 12 hours? (2500 do about 3, 5000 would do 6, 10A would do 12...)

You could get a standard D-cell cradle (with solder tabs) add a cable plus connector, and plug it in the external power port. (Maplin part numbers available :) )
A little cumbersum but they would certainly last.

yeah i mean most people have a bag on them so i mean it would not be that bad... were do you play it anyway... the bus, the train etc so its not like you have to carry the waght all the time...

i've been thikin about this also why not buy a high capacity lithium polymer and permanently install it in the case they have some great batteries and protection circuits at www.batteryspace.com i know a 6A one wont fit but i recently got a hold of some of the 5A ones and they may fit on the inside, or you could try and fit two 2.5A ones in a parrellel inside of it. here is a link to the batteries page for anyone interested http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?Page...TS&Category=869
and here are the protection circuits so your batteries dont blow up :p http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?Page...TS&Category=711
