Well I have been wanting to start this topic ever since I saw that awesome picture of ED holding the Pandora while surrounded by lots of retro video games. I'm sure many of you have quite the collection of games since you will be playing only the games you own... right? Of course you will be. Well I have been collecting games for 5-6 years now, picking them up at garage sales, second hand stores, or the occasional good deal on eBay. Below are links to pictures of my collection, I'd love to see other peoples collection if you have pictures, or the time to take pictures.

Wow man - really love the collection you've got. I have to commend you for having Sonic CD AND a boxed copy of Kirby Super Star. :)

You also have an insane amount of Game Gears. Why do you need 5? o.o

Also, 2 Virtual Boys. You know, for when you want to play games in 6-D. lol

Unfortunately, I haven't been as lucky as you. I've been collecting for about 5 years now, but I don't have any mode of transportation (as I only recently become old enough to drive!) to get me to garage sales, or any money to spend when I get there. So my collection is a bit small... but I love what I do have, and plan to beat them all AGAIN on my Pandora! :D

Here's 2 measly pictures of my collection:

Lol, im surprised you could actually tell that was Sonic CD from my crappy camera resolution. As for the excessive systems, most were bought broken and took parts to make a fully working one (that was the case for the virtual boy anyway) the gamegears were given to me, all I had to do was pay shipping. Some broken, most working!

I have the exact same copy you do of Sonic CD, I just printed out the box art and taped it to my jewel case. XD

Ahh, so one Virtual Boy is not working? Dang, I was really looking forward to footage of the 6th dimension...in eye-popping 2-D!

Game Gears are apparently super cheap. I owned one once and ended up selling it for whatever reason....I really miss my blue one. :p

I noticed you live in the same state I do. Did you by any chance check out the Portland Retro Gaming Expo last year? :)

ON TOPIC: Kirby Squeak Squad, Sonic 3D Blast for the Saturn, all of my PC games, and of course my PANDORA aren't in the pictures I posted.

Nivek10, how much did those Game Gears set you back? Out of all they systems that I don't own anymore I only miss my Game Gear the most. Every one I've found had really bad scratches on them. I took really good care of my GG, not a scratch on it. I have a few sonic game boxes and all my manuals still. When I was a kid my little broth GAVE AWAY my GG, not sold it, not lost it, gave it away with around 10 games. I found out a few years later and I was ticked. He has a problem with giving things away that aren't his, he gave away a lot of my siblings stuff. The most tragic being my brother's first and early second edition D&D which when he sold what he had left on e-bay made him 1000s, my little brother might have given away around $10,000 of books and modules to kids that didn't know how to play anyway and probably just thew it away.

I guess I got off easy, it makes me mad when I think about it, my GG anyway, and most of my PS1 RPGs, he gave those away too. We don't play video games together often just because it brings up bad memories.

@second exodus : haha, it remains me of my own little brother.. :)

he was always more interested in making money than playing video games and always tried to trick me or my big brother..

once, when he was around 12 or 13 i think, he made me buy him a Nintendo 64 for him for Christmas, and he resold it less than a month later :)

Even younger, he made my big bro buy him a game gear (that's not an easy thing to do, my big brother was kindof a nintendo-maniac :) ..), and he sold it in the space of months :) , that one was a really big move hahahaha :)

It always make me laugh when i think of these, as they are fond memories.

If I have the time I'll make some photo too.

My collection isn't that big, but I'm proud of it.

Got back most of the consoles I had when I was teenager and some that I never had.

Nivek10, you've got some nice consoles!

I've got a war damaged snes in a bag somewhere in my wardrobe. I kept it perfectly fine throughout my teens and early 20's, then my nephews got hold of it... At least I still have the games in good order.

I've actually got my megadrive set up in my bedroom, it looks like sick on my lcd though. I might take a picture of my megadrive game collection when my copy of pier solar arrives this month.

I did have a modest saturn collection, but I actually sold most of it for stupid reasons. I had shining force 3, shining the holy ark, shining wisdom, and guardian heroes. Those netted me a tidy profit, but I frittered it away on god only knows what.

NES

SNES

N64

GB/GBA

MD(Genesis)

PSX

My four atari 2600 games are in France, so I can't take photo of those.

I've also got many NGC, DC and PS2 games, but I don't really think they fit in the "Retro" genre.

I'm slowly buying back all the games I had wen I was a teenager and some that I couldn't get because I was too short on money

You only have FOUR 2600 games? I have enough of those to build a house with. Here in the US people sell those in lots and no matter how much you want the one game you have to buy the other 20+ with it. It is also fun to go to swap meets and buy a box not knowing what is in it when it comes to 2600 games. Then you realize that you're a sucker and when you try to get rid of them no one wants them. I can see why the video game industry failed back then, I really can.

I only own 5 atari 2600 games myself actually, didnt even take pictures of them. Though I am bidding on eBay for the 2600 expansion for the Colecovision that lets you play 2600 games on your Colecovision, so maybe that will give me incentive to start a large collection of 2600 carts :p I love how they could get away with that kind of stuff back then. And who knows, maybe I will actually get an atari 2600 sometime too

The first nail in the coffin for things like that was Nintendo taking Galoob to court over the Game Genie. I never got that, what do they care? I'm sure it was because they were not paid licensing fees to make crap for their console but when I was a kid I thought Nintendo didn't want kids to cheat at video games because you would beat the rental fast and not buy the game.

I got my atari 2600 only a few month ago and it was sold with four games : centipede, pole position, missile command and defender.

The reason I didn't search for more games is that I'm currently waiting for the answer of a guy that should bring me a Neo-Geo MVS 4 slots with 4 games.

So I'm trying to keep my money in my pocket until then.

Anyway Belgium is really a shitty place to buy second hand videogames and consoles, it seems that they all use eBay to set their price.

I'm humbled by these collections, I must say. Mine consists mostly of Dreamcast games. For some reason I sold all my old consoles.

I am, however, picking up a Retrode, so this should give me some incentive to pick up some of my SNES/Megadrive favourites and re-play them with some lovely scaling on a nice shiny LCD.

I think there should be more emphasis on creating ways to play the old games on new hardware, rather than keeping hold of the old stuff. As huge a pang of nostalgia as I get from looking at a boxed Megadrive, I just don't have the space! ... and it looks like ass on an LCD.

Nice intellivision collection Nivek10

@ Mygames19 lovely Sega Nomad and Model 1 MegaCD unit (dug mine out awhile back and was pleased to find it still in perfect working order, whereas my Wii's and 360's have had dead DVD drives many times, cheap modern crap  )

True, old games look really bad on LCD screens, even with MAME (scaling with direct3D make some strange glitches in the sprites).

That's why I keep my good old CRT TV, it's dedicated to those old consoles.

The Retrode is a cool device, but it seems that they're out of stock and I'm pretty much out of money

Dreamcast is a great console, the fact that it can be used on VGA screen is a great thing!

Got one recently, I still need some time and money to get some good games, but Soulcalibur is impressive.

Would be, if I could get my paws on a VGA cable.

Retrode recently sold the last 15 units to newsletter subscribers. I was one of those.

Will be getting my wife (*eek*) to solder together the GBx/N64 adaptor kit parts for me.

I have an old CRT knocking about, but it's never used and destined for the dump. They're just too big and unwieldy to keep about. And I stole the stand it was on to set up a 24" LCD and an Xbox 360 on my side of the bed. It's the only way I get any games completed!

I'll certainly be going on the hunt for some N64, SNES and Megadrive cartridges over the next few weeks. There's a good, local car-boot sale just down the road from me and I think I've seen some game traders set up shop there frequently. Definitely a good place to start, methinks.

I've got my eye on Sonic 1, 2, S&K, Sonic 3D and anything else related to Sonic to start. Plus Micro Machines V3, if it's even possible to get hold of!

All this talk about Dreamcast has made me realize... I forgot to post pictures of my dreamcast collection! Well I have more games I've aquired not too long ago as well, so I will add those today to my original post when I get off work. (dont like working on a Sunday..)
