imo the gp2x is NOT a handheld designed for massmarket plugin-and-play-gamer-lamer consumers such as yourself. It is a *homebrew* device first and foremost, along similar lines and philosophy as Andre LaMothe's X-GameStation (but rather more slinky and a little more accessible to the average Joe) This basically means it's a handheld device that has been uniquely designed for the pleasure of nerdy/technically minded coders to play about with. It's made for people who understand hardware a little and who are not PHASED by what are basically small fixable s/w related problems. 90% or the problems you have seen people like yourself moaning about on these boards since the release of the gp2x are not REAL issues in the minds of genuine homebrewers. We know that with a little effort the gp2x's HOMEBREW coders and community will be able to fix just about all of them. It's only the impatient gamer-lamers such as yourself that run around with your arms in the air crying because coders at GamePark have set the brighteness and contrast levels too high in the firmware screen intialization code. This kind of "problem" is a non-issue to homebrews because we understand it can be fixed in time.
Basically, people like you should not be dabbling in quirky homebrew-based devices. As a previous poster suggested, i think you'd be far better off grabbing yourself a Nintendo NDS and Supercard. That way you can download yourself Yoshi and Wario Mario Adventures in Lala-land. Everyone will be happy and *WE* won't have to hear you bitching because you naively expected to be able to play XBox CD images on you gp2x.
Get off your high horse, man. The guy made a very concise post asking why he should get one of these. There was no bitching. I guess lately the friendly community would definetly not be a reason to get a gp2x. I first came to these boards back when I got my gp32, and the boards were very friendly and welcoming. Now I see more and more a-holes like yourself acting elitist and stand-offish to newcomers.
