hehe, since I'm doing lots of work on my personal RPG, it'd be really neat if I could like play it on the train ^^

ahhh *dreams*

yeh that would be awesome i wouldn't mind being able to play 1 of my rpg maker 2003 games!!! :D

It must be possible but i don't know how cos of my n00b---nesss.....

I really don't know if it'd be possible, since I don't think anyone knows the rpg2k3 source... although it's something you make yourself, so actually I have no clue... :/

it's this program that writes code for you, so you can make an RPG quite easily (and it will look sort of like final fantasy on the snes)... it's really great, but still lots of work :-|| (and the program is a bitch sometimes too :/)

RPGmaker has been around for quite a lot of years... the first version was RPGmaker 95 believe, then there we're some major enhancements but the name didnt change i dont believe, then RPGmaker 2k, and now apperently RPGmaker 2k3

RPGmaker is basically a windows application that comes with a LOT of sprites and basic RPG engine, on which you can make levels, set actions, characters etc... and the end product is a HUGE file which is an RPG game... extremly un-optimised but gives a lot of amateur game makers a sense of achievement...

porting RPGmaker 2003 is not possasble, even if it is, it should never be done!!

maybe making a portable RPG engine, now thats a good idea, and one I'm currently working on, but it'll be a LONG time before I release anything as I'm not an amazingly fast or good coder :(

wasn't there an RPG engine made for the GP32 in one of the coding competions? Gigas engine i think it was? Is this still being worked on?

lol, well... I beg to differ :/

you see, I'm a writer, but I'm also Belgian, meaning my native language is Dutch. I'm writing this huge fantasy-novel that can and will appeal to a lot of people and be superpopular, but I simply can't write it in fluent English... it'd be okay but not as great as in Dutch... so RPG2K3 gives me a way to show my story to the outside world (however: porting a 1500 page novel to a game is lots of work :/)

it'd be really übercool if someone would want to turn my story into a gp32 game... *drifts away on a cloud*

Huh, how about ya don't count your chickens before they hatch, eh? (In reply to the 'Oh, it'll be superpopular!' ) *pops Q-Wi-Q's ego* Whoops.

AFAIK RPGMK is illegal... I think that it was translated from Japanese or something by Don Mieugl (however you spell it, and yes it's the person who made/whaevered FameSoft...) then put for download on the inet :)

...it will be superpopular mark my words :p (if I don't believe in my own story, then who will? however I can really see where my work fails, that's why I've been redoing every one of the 1500 pages...), but more importantly I'm saying I have a story to tell -_- I've been working on this story for over 5 years (which is pretty impressive as I'm only 18 now), I've gathered loads of fanbase and contacts in this time... however, language is a big draw-back, if I were an Englishman, it'd all be way simpler...

Don is around the community as we all know, and yeah, he pretty much took RM95/2K and translated it, then illegally put it up for download. There is a bit of moral justification in that it isn't for sale outside of Japan, so most people tend to be thankful, not angry.

RM2K is however a mixed blessing ... there are huge amounts of tripe RPGs that have been created with it, flooding the internet. Just because it's so easy to make them. I've done crazy things with the engine, back in the day - once you get more involved with the scripting language, it's quite powerful.

I don't know the situation about RM2K3. Last I heard, an official English release was on its way. So who translated it?

rpgadvocate, the person that made phylomortis...

RPG maker is cool and all, but for the gp32 it'd be really hard because you couldn't type very easily...
I personally thought it was cool, but to get a lot of things going you have to spend time learning stuff, and I realized that if I'm going to spend hours learning to use something like rpg maker, why not learn how to program properly instead?

that's true, I really should learn to do some decent coding :p

...however, I'll never be able to learn stuff like that :/ don't even know what language I should learn XD

Wouldn't it be easier to not port the whole RPG2K(3) Program, and instead only the interpreter (I assume thats how the games are run). Or maybe make a 'plug in' for the main program to export the games into a format that the GP32 can more easily understand.

I have no clue :/

and actually, I do think it's a good idea to port this program... (at least the output rpg thingy :p)... I really wouldn't know how to do it, but if someone'd manage I'm sure that I wouldn't feel so useless because I'd finally be able to make something for the gp32 :p

dutch wouldnt be a problem for me :p its good to see some dutch speaking ppl here :) **altijd leuk** :D

lol if you like reading just pm me XD (I'm belgian btw :) not dutch)

well go here First GP32 Support Forum that's where Don Miguel hangs out. I've even talked to him about doing this my name there is, Eskab. and he said he is thinkin gabout it but probably not gonna do it and he made something where he converted the sprites to gp32 it explains it all there.
