For those that follow Slashdot, there was a posting today about a new 2D platform maker for the PC called the Scrolling Game Development Kit. The program is free, and open source, and allows people with varying degrees to make 2D scrollers for the PC.

I know there is an RPG Maker in progress, but if anyone ever had a few spare months of their life to dedicate to a GP32 program, I think this would be a excellent project worth developing. Writing one program like this would lead to lots and lots of programs for the GP32. You could develop the game on your PC, and when done, compile it into an FXE or whatever.

Just dreaming of the possibilities ...

I also saw the link on /. I've known about the kit for a while, and yes it could be ported but it uses DirectX (I believe) quite a lot so some code emulation will be required. That's -if- the GP32 has enough power to handle the engine.

Then again, I'd prefer that there wasn't any makers available for the GP32, as they frequently lead to poor games (look at the RPGMaker scene) ...
