a dice rolling program for role playing games like D&D it would be convenient if you have forgotten the dice set or something like that .

what do you guys think about the idea?

Well the idea is incredibly simple so I think it should be padded out, i.e. a realistic looking 3D die with cool special effects and just a general "this dice is actually fun to use" type thing. Would spice it up a bit :)

You do know the Wiz supports flash. You do know there are plenty of flash based dice rollers around?

I tried both and thought both were pretty bad if I must be honest

Let me know EXACTLY what you want and I'll code one for you - shouldn't be too difficult. Supply images as/if required. Email info to -

I'm presuming you'd want something that offered multiple dice and of varying optional values?

I want something that might look a bit simple, perhaps like this?
thanks people by the way with the help and suggestions. :)

I've got this app running nicely now. I need to add a large font for the dice results, a quick splash screen and some sfx, but other than that it's done.

Does this look like it will suit your needs?

This would also be really useful for playing board games in a dorm room. Just because you have room for the game doesn't mean you also have room on the table for rolling dice without knocking all of the game pieces over  I might have to check this out when it's ready.

Super job, everything seems to be running fine.

A couple of things though:
A D100 would be helpful and could D-pad control be added?
Good luck in the competition. :)

Cheers, it's good to know that it does what it should and that it's appreciated

Not being an RPGamer I've never used anything other than a d6 in my whole life, so hoped it would work out OK. Google is your friend!

If you can supply an image of a d100 that fits in with the other images, I'll add it - it might bugger up the layout a bit though...

I did originally have D-pad control, but removed it as it just didn't feel intuitive. The touchscreen seemed to be the logical choice. Not sure how I can implement it and still make it easy to use. Any ideas?

As for the comp. I hadn't even considered entering - this app just happened to be complete AND fitted the category and timescale. I certainly didn't enter in the hope of receiving anything, except maybe a guffaw!

[EDIT]

OK. I've had a think and a play around and I've now got a workable and hopefully simple idea for using D-Pad. I've also added in a d100 now.

Expect the new version tomorrow. :)

Sorry for the double post, but here's an updated version of Dicey. Now includes d100 die and D-PAD controls.

Use LEFT/RIGHT to highlight arrow buttons and UP/DOWN to increase/decrease values. Press SELECT to roll. Or just use the touchscreen as per original version.

I can compile a GP2X version if required.

Thanks for your quick reply and update, everythings perfect now. :D

(Apart from the maximum number of dice is only 5 (10 would be better), or am I just being fussy now!)
