How do I do this?

It got borked up somehow when I updated to 1.54.

Now it does not recognize the password I used.

Is there a way to set it without re-flashing completely?

If so...is the a re-flash package for 1.54....so that I don't have to re-flash 1.52 and then to the updater thing again?

Humm... I read around. Looks to me like a re-flash will just plain be easier.

which means I will then have to re-install the codec pack. It is the same codecs that I already have, right?

Humm. I did that.

It did not ask me to set a new password.

Now it doesn't ask for a password at all when hooking up to WiFi...which I don't necessarily MIND...but I think it should be right...and I obviously don't have it right, or it would have asked me to reset the password.

I did dele3te the file that the thing said to delete.

Like I said, now it does not ask me for a password at all.

Hmmm. Then maybe better reflash with the full flash image.

Did you reboot after deleting the file?

Yes I rebooted.

Never mind, though...the next time I actually tried to hook up to wifi...not just enable wifi, but actualy hook up...it made me set a keyring password.

The problem was I was at work, and did not want to try to hook up to their network, as it would have involved looking around for the password...my laptop memorized it a long time ago, lol.

So when I got home, I tried to hook to my home network, and then it made me set a new keyring password.

And now, as before, it does not ask me for it EVERY SINGLE TIME I hook to my network. so all's well, it now works as it should.

Nice :)

Of course it will not set a new password, if you are not actually sending a password...

Please be more precise next time.

You're welcome.

I thought I was precise...in indicating it never ASKED me for a new password...which I was expecting it to do as soon as I re-booted.

I did not expect that it would not ask for one until I hooked to wifi...I was EXPECTING it to ask me for it as soon as I re-booted - which is what happens when you do a total re-flash.

Please YOU be more specific next time about when it will ask...LOL.

(although I suppose I might have mentioned that it wasn't asking for the new password when I was enabling WLAN. I was at work, so not actually trying to hook to their network...just enabling WLAN. I didn't want to try to hook up to my client's network, simply because it would have involved tracking down the password again. My laptop has it in memory, and automatically connects. My Panda doesn't. But as illiterate as I truly am with this stuff...I did not know there was much of a difference between merely enabling the WLAN...and hooking to the Wi-Fi...since I mostly used it at home, and it automatically hooked up to my home network whenever I enabled WLAN.)

No, seriously thanks for your help in this matter, I now hae my password set as it should be...and if it gets un-set again for any reason, I know how to fix that without a full re-flash. Thank you again.

No problem, but if you think of it from a logical point of view:

When would you expect to be asked for a password for say, your pc?

When you have to log in or directly after you pushed the powerbutton?

Edit: You said that you are not asked for a password while "hooking up" to a network. So I assumed you actually connected, not just toggled wifi.

I personally never said anything about when it will ask you to set your new password.

Edit: If you do a total flash, it will ask you for your admin password. The keyring password will be asked on first wifi hookup, too.

Don't confuse the two as they are not necessarily the same.

Ah...but that was where I was EXPECTING it to ask for an Admin Keyring password...right after the re-boot.

and it didn't.

Then I toggled the wifi - but did not actually attempt to hook to a network...and THAT is where I should have been clearer.

But again, I didn't really know there was a difference, since whenever I enable the wifi at home it AUTOMATICALLY connects to my home network. And I haven't had much occasion to access any other networks, lol.

So there it is. My bad, you are right, I should have been clearer.

But, as I said...it didn't happen when I initially EXPECTED it to.

Issue solved!

And again, thanks for your help in resolving it!
