I do remeber using a port of the Real Media Player on a copy of Knoppix I once borrowed from a friend. Is it possible to either port it to the GP2x's Linux, or make it like a plugin for the built-in Media Player? It would be nice to watch Air on a handheld!

Just wondering if it would work! If not, does anyone know how to convert Real Media movied to a format compatible with the GP2x?

Is that real media player open source? (I know there is an offcial one for suse, but it isnt included in open suse because it is not open source).

Anyways, there are programs to convert realmedia, but I dont know any free ones...

Hmm... I'll surf around to see if I can find source... and I'll post it!

Aha! How 'bout this? If someone could convert the source... we'd have RealMedia for GP2x!

Link: here.

It's not open source, so there's no way it's going to get ported to the GP2X.

Maybe if you look around, you'll find a codec for VirtualDubMod, but it's not very likely  .

EDIT: MPlayer is the GP2X's media player already...

Well, does nebody kno how to port linux things to gp2x? if so, pleez teach how! I'll do it for personal uses, just so it'll be legal ;)

Edit: Then we recompile it :p

There are guides on the internet, but you have to know a bit of programming to do it; nothing you learn in 15 minutes or so ;)

I'm not quite sure, but Helix supports RealMedia (https://player.helixcommunity.org) but I doubt that RM is so useful with XVID on hand and AVC/MP4 in near future. Although it would be cool if someone ports Mplayer fully to the GP2X but I think the missing feature would be the (closed source/hacked) Windows codecs...

What about Media Player Classic with the Realalternative codec?

I believe media player classic is open source and the real alternative codec is for people who want to play realmedia files without the need of downloading the realplayer with it.

There's gotta be a way! Real Media files should work on the GP2x... and I will make them! (When I figure out how) help...
