Hi !
I propose that we share in this thread the variants of the pyra xkb layout file that we created for our own languages.
French variant : Pyra-fr
Here is mine, a french variant, called "pyra-fr". The changes made in the "pyra" official keyboard layout are as follow :
(The keys "é" and "è" are in there also inverted back to their right position.)
The idea behind this new keyboard layout was not to recreate an azerty one on the Pyra, but rather to simply add the letters and the symbols that we need and we are used to dispose in our usual french environments, in a manner that their position can be easily remembered. That's why I replaced "ö" by "œ", "ü" by "ù", etc. I also replaced the keys "¨" and "^" by their dead counterparts, so that they can now be used in combination with other letters.
(This picture could be conveniently stored somewhere in your Pyra filesystem, so it could be easily consulted at any time.)
To use it, extract the "pyra-fr.zip" file, copy the "pyra-fr" file in the « /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/ » directory, and run this command line :
To simply switch between this layout and the official one, I suggest you create such launchers on your desktop :
Pyra layout launcher :
Pyra-fr layout launcher :
Now we can all write french novels directly on the Pyra !
Joking aside, I hope it will be useful to someone else ! ^^
