Pyra in the wild - the real life experience

Eltechs contacted me. They told me they fixed it. I'll try it later today or tomorrow.
They provided me a download link.
Oh really? maybe I need to re-download the installer.

Funny I did play with it last night, I ended up taking alsa-base out of the dependency check in the install script, forced installed the guest image and had installed exagear debian package with the --ignore-dependencies and I could use it, but it was buggy likely because I bypassed a bit of the install script.

I did install fo me and seems to work so far.
All I want is not in the Deian repo but atleast the x84 synaptic is working :)

Small Update:

Telegram Desktop
I needed to add the Debian Backports Repo and then it installed without any issues and works fine out of the box.
I didn't test it much so far but I don't see why it should not work.

So the two most popular Messengers work out of the box.
Good news I suppose :)

hi to all
and gimp and inkscape ? please because i used this programs too
thanks
peace
I wouldn't worry about it, they're a Linux staple and they work well. we're running vanilla armhf Debian Stretch.

Quick on a quick apt search
Code:
gimp/stable,now 2.8.18-1 armhf [installed]
  GNU Image Manipulation Program

inkscape/stable 0.92.1-1 armhf
  vector-based drawing program

@Askarus so great ! many thanks ! peace

We did some drawing and played around with some effects (blur etc.) some years ago with the OMAP 5 dev board.
Gimp was surprisingly fast. So it should be the same on the Pyra.

Maybe @EvilDragon can tell you more as knows a lot better than me what's demanding graphical tasks and how well it run at that time. I have no Idea what to do for a performance test as I have no experience with Picture/video editing.

Has anyone tried using the Pyra as a desktop PC? And by that I mean having the system itself sitting closed on the desk, and using a keyboard/mouse/monitor to interact with it.

If so, how easy is it to switch back and forth between stationary and portable mode? Just a matter of plugging/unplugging the HDMI and USB cables? Can you get all USB devices including power cable onto a single hub, so you only have two things to plug to the system itself, or does the power cord need to go alone into the OTG port? Can you set it up to automatically adjust resolution to the built in screen or external monitor, or do you have to manually change it every time?

If you have USB keyboard and mouse plugged into to a USB hub, then it's a matter of unplugging that hub and taking out the HDMI lead. There's been talk of making a docking station so you can just detact it from that, but all that really is is a set of USB hubs/passthroughs, a headphone passthrough and an HDMI passthrough, but nothing has been planned in that direction yet so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

iirc HDMI output wasn't working yet?
The USB inputs wouldn't be any different from normal plug & play, though.

I hadn't heard of HDMI troubles, but it's fair to say I hadn't positively heard it was working yet. Either way, I expect it to be working by the time this thing gets in people's hands, or shortly afterwards at worst.

It should be, but at the moment you need to use a kernel parameter to switch to it.

It is working
Sorry to ask, I'm very curious about the HDMI port... :D

Can custom resolutions and refresh rates be set on the external HDMI port? And can it be on simultaneously with the screen so that stuff can be changed on the fly without relying on the HDMI output for the interface or terminal?

I understand that if the screen is cloned, the res and freq should be the same otherwise it would have to scale, but I'm just wondering if I can have it outputting test patterns in full HD at different refresh rates so I can use it at work for this purpose. ;)

oh my gosh, if it's xrandr-able, that's super easy. even i can use xrandr...
