Put Us Out Of Our Misery!

They were unable to make all of the parts in time (in any numbers worth shipping). So they will finish the run on the 22nd+.

This just means that all the Pandoras will probably ship in a steady flow from then, rather than a small batch first.
plenty of time to create new video's :D

True, in Hong Kong locals will be offered sometimes as low as 10 or 12 days annual holiday....

uh?...thats shocking?....I gotta have a word with my boss
I understand the following: There are 2 weeks in the year they get a 5 day holiday, BUT when they return, they're expected to work the following weekend to make up for the holiday, so really they only get 6 days off for those two weeks. Chinese New Year is supposed to last 9 days, but the reality is that days on either side of that are basically do-nothing days, so really it becomes more like 16 days. Taking out the weekend that they wouldn't have worked anyway, that's basically 20 days of no work throughout the year. This is the same amount that I (and surely a large number of others) get, except that only half of mine are government given, the other 10 days are my choice.

Although the first 500 will be slightly gutted about this, I am glad there will be a steady flow rather than a gap. It will mean we will all relatively get our Pandoras within a closer time frame and we can all start enjoying this thing together.. its been a long wait and watching 500 people playing with there Pandoras knowing mine and 3500 are still not being assembled would be difficult to watch..

Fair game Craig I'm so glad this is almost there.. As I know you are too. Thanks for the update

I'm in the first 500, and I would much rather have a unit that ships a couple of weeks later than one with a cracked hinge. I half expected this anyway. OP just can't seem to catch a break.

As far as Craig said on Monday.. those defects will not be in the case as it was just a rough run to show what work had been done on other parts of the case, No alignment of the machine no preheated mould and recycled plastics.. if they shipped 500 early or all together the would have been the same cases of the same quality just a small batch before the big run..

Still its more fair, and the buzz will be greater if we all receive within the same frame of time.. I expect we will start seeing the first units units being received, and the last units being received within 2 weeks which will be great for everyone..

Quick question. I would hope Texas doesn't celebrate CNY, so will the Texas factory be able crank out more the 1,000 they already built? I mean, no sense in waiting for the Chinese factory to send 10,000 cases to you guys and *then* build more PCB. Right?

Don't forget the storage issue - storing populated-but-not-assembled Pandora PCBs takes more space and care than storing the components in their source locations or storing fully built Pandoras-in-cases. This was given as a (the?) reason for not giving the go-ahead on the PCBs previously, and while the CNY continues Texas isn't growing any larger (AFAIK).

I remember this reason and it was valid when we had no clue when the cases would be manufactured. Now, however, the cases have been given a green light and that starts on February 22nd. So while I do agree that Texas and OP want to be careful with storing populated PCBs, more or less, there has to be some type of balance. If 1,000 boards is the max they can have at one time, then so be it. All I am trying to address is getting as many Pandora's built as fast as possible.

Again, if the limit is 1,000, no problem. But we have a tentative date when the cases should be expected. So maybe not this week, but maybe next week or maybe even March 1st they could start building an additional 500-1000 to prepare for the large amount of cases coming in.

Regarding Texas not growing any larger, Remember, Everything is bigger in Texas! :D

It is smarter that cases are worked on after the holiday given what Craig and Michael said about rushed manufacturing. :)

If I were Craig and ED et Al (which, thankfully, I am not) then the "tentative" bit up there would make me pause big time, before committing to the guys in Texas that such-and-so was going to happen. I certainly don't want a delay that can easily be avoided, but making promises you can't keep - OpenPandora wouldn't want to do that!

dang, there goes my bet :) (i bet on the 23rd of feb. for first pandora to be shipped to a customer)

anyways, these 2 weeks don't matter, really. looking forward now to finally get my unit!
