Does it matter if the files are .7z files?

I can't even unzip 7z - I don't have an unzipper that handles them, I uses WinRAR.

Do I need .zip files...or is .7z okay?

Winrar will unzip 7z files fine, I use Winrar myself.

so you need to unzip the files....can't just use zips like with FBA and MAME...right?

We won't talk about where I am getting my files, lol.
Can't use like that coz. MAME is dumped rom image and PSX is CD image so contents is totally different.

It's only support most cd image file and eboot.pbp

And probably 7z file archived required extra tools if contain file extension is .ecm

ecm also some kind of archive file

In that case also need this.

Exactlhy. I won't say it publicly.

Anyway, yes, I discovered, accidentally, that WinRAR will open 7z's I didn't know it would.
Great :D

Hopefully u'll enjoy psx games.

PCSX ReARMed is one of my favourite emulator.

I had a thing happen here...

the "readme" says it accepts .mdf files...but when I tried one it said invalid file format. Is there another bios besises scph1001 - or whatever it's called that I need for .mdf to work or what?

It would be one thing if the game itself did not work...but for it to tell me an invalid file format....I'm like "whaaaaat?? the 'readme' says that is a valid file format..."

How did you rip it? If you tell us exactly with what program and settings you ripped your CD to a .mdf we could maybe help you with that problem.

The Playstation Bios won't have any bearing on the functionality of the emulator itself, the support for various file formats will be determined by the emu, the Bios file will determine which model of Playstation it is emulating - scph1001 is later series PS1 so you're good with that.

It's always possible the file you have is corrupt or invalid for any number of reasons. What size is it? If it 's suspiciously small for example.....

The safest bet is usually the more common or uncompressed formats - top of the tree being .bin/.cue (pair of identically named files with those extensions) which is uncompressed. If you go through the PcsxRearmed release thread, people post their successes & failures with various formats there, mdf is one I can't recall much mention of myself....
