Psp Emulation On Pandora

I never owned a Gizmondo but when it was made it was pretty cool it was great for Piracy, hacking, and homebrew before there as the Gp2x it was also super easy hack the systme copy a few files and install a few patches and your done piracy wasn't to difficult either files were pretty small hacking the thing is pretty fun if only I could buy a Gizmondo in the United States Because I would have fun hacking that beast.

It was easier to keep the firmware hacked because... Gizmondo the company died! You didn't have to worry about new firmware updates.

The Gizmondo in some ways is nicer than the PSP - with GP2Xmenu and Picodrive, it's more like a GP2X.

Homebrew the one thing that made the Gizmondo worth wile in my opinion it is easy to hack because the company dead and so is the product and homebrew scene is mostly dead.

Ok, sorry to trash the party, but the likeliness of the "Pandora native 3D" games reaching in to a 3 digit number is kinda remote.
It really depends whether we're talking about Pandora Original 3D games, or games that are 3D that have been compiled to run on the Pandora. Very few of the former, but I'm betting a large number of the latter eventually show up.

Not really a boost, since most of PSP games are not that good or are remakes of PS1 games.
When Pandora will get native 3D games that are better than PSP ones, then that will be a real boost to the Pandora!
Ok, sorry to trash the party, but the likeliness of the "Pandora native 3D" games reaching in to a 3 digit number is kinda remote. The games will be few, and far between. There are a few homebrew games that show potential, but lets face it, they probably wont even make up a 2 digit number of final releases, much less a 2 digit number of great final releases. With the user base we are going to hit with the Panda in the next year or so, a few Indie-developers might very well show some interest. I expect puzzle games, and 3D or not, they aren't really going to exploit the capacity of the hardware. I agree, some, even most PSP games aren't revolutionary, and i would rather someone focus on making a PSX emu, then a PSP emu, but actually, making a PSP emu actually gets you both... It's a small task, to remake a PSX game in to a PSP one, and the tools are already "out there". And then you got a wide array of games including at least some of my favorites available.

Taking a thread off-topic is one thing, but chiming in to say it's pointless to want a platform emulated because its games suck is just rude. You really have no place speaking for everyone on this.

Unless we're talking about the Phillips CDI. I have one, and my life is worse for it.
;)
Please. Make your life better, and mine worse, at a small cost to you. Ship the CDI of to me...

B!

yay, yes!!!! lets all make a x86 emulator to emulate the xbox to emulate the psx to emulate NES and play pong classic.

I don't have the link right now, but I got a response from JayFoxRox in a thread I made about this very topic awhile ago. If I remember correctly he basically said his beagleboard had died, so he wouldn't be able to do any more work on his emulator, likely until he got a Pandora and not to look for anything significant any time soon. I think he also guessed some games might end up running decently if he ever got his emulator working really well.
He keeps this pretty well updated, check my previous post here

There seems to be a misunderstanding… I never said that it's pointless to want psp emulation.
What I meant was that in my opinion, I think it would be better for the platform reputation to have first party games than emulate PSP.
Moreover, I never said that all the PSP games are trash (I own a PSP and a few games for it).
I just think many of those games are remakes/sequel of PS1/PS2 games and I think it's a bit dull.

What reputation I don't develop Apps for any of the devices in this forum nor do I hack any of them what reputation is there to protect.

You don't need to be a dev mate ;)

Well didn't think of think of it that way but yah your right but what is wrong about talking about piracy I never gave any links or uploaded any files it isn't illegal to to talk about piracy because almost everyone at gp32x.de engages in it some how.

Do you realise that you just said that thousands of people engage in piracy just because they've registered an account at gp32x.de? Wow, just wow.
* People using emulators can(/should) use PD roms and/or dump their own roms.
* Now with the pandora theres a lot of (not sure, but i think so) people who plan to use their only/first open handheld primaly as a MID / linux hacking device.

Yeah noticed. It seems that recently no thread (except quotes for the blog and porndora...) has had the ability to stay in one topic, but noticing the current circumstances i can understand that and not really worried about it at all. I'm hoping that this will change when we all have our pandoras.

Doesnt the PSP tap out at about 3 gigahertz? I dont think the Pandora could Emulate that.

Lol  no way, it can be clocked to 333mhz :)

3Ghz! If that would be the case I would buy 100, connect them to a supercomputer and take over the world!

Quit lying the Psp has many awesome games (in my opinion) I like Final Fantasy Dissdidia, Daxter, Sonic Rivals, Ratchet and Clank Size Matters, Tekken Dark Resurrection, and God of War Chains of Olympus.

I can't see any game of this list happening for quite some time because the only one I'm interested in myself is Tekken (and it's the only game I own from this list [though I could get the jump'n'runs from a friend]).
However, I have no idea how complex tekken is, how much you could abstract it etc. But iirc it has FMVs which would be missing and it was fairly advanced graphics wise (it used some neat tricks, coding-wise) - so I'd assume that the devs tried to optimize whereever possible and this might mean a lot of VFPU work (which is one of the slowest parts in the emulator - and almost non-existant so far).

The emulator won't be out for some time, but I will probably release snapshots once my pandora arrives. I did lots of work when I got my Pandora emulator working and dropped the interpreter, but the OS / Firmware HLE broke with the continous changes in the pandora kernel interface and changes in my own libraries - and rewriting the input system numerous times was really annoying and I wasn't motivated enough to rewrite using SDL yet (because I hate SDL - but that's another topic..), rewriting for my new libraries is / was also a lot of work.

I agree with KodeIn btw. It's far more important that good Pandora games are created and this is why I will work on the things I have ported or written month ago which broke now (mainly Guitars On Fire & SDK Samples and a few SDK Tools).
The PSP Emulator is more of a proof of concept so far. While some applications run as good as on a real PSP, it's probably too slow or unstable for most (all?) commercial games. However, the things running are probably not what you want to use.
[Note: I'm not saying that the stuff you ask for will never work, but it probably needs lots of optimisations (probably case-specific) and hence lots of time and work]
