Well, with the new release of GP2PSX, everything runs much better. What games do you people think are playable at enjoyable speeds? Ridge Racer 4 is almost playable... It looks perfect, but runs a bit too slow.

(Sorry if there was another topic like this one... I couldn't find one)

Well, once HLE is re-enabled, more assembly is done, and we figure out how to use effectively use both processors, most games should be able to run pretty well. Right now, though, most games aren't very playable. I'm looking forward to playing games like mmx4 and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which are both great platformers.

OKay here's a short list for all to enjoy:

*Twisted Metal (1,2, or 3 the other's aren't as good)
*Gex (any of them)
*Blasto
*Lunar Silver Star Story
*Lunar Eternal Blue
*Metal Gear Solid
*Battle Area Toshinden
*Micro Machines V3

That's a short list but I'll think of more when I take a look at my small collection later.

No offence intended, but i don`t share your optimism. The sega saturn had 2 cpu`s but programmers either couldn`t effectively use them or never used them at all. My point is that I can`t honestly see the GP2X running PS1 games at anywhere near accurate speeds, hell we can`t even get a decent Snes emulator running at full speed. I`ve always been appreciative of the GP32/2x emulator community, but to expect a PS1 emulator to run most games at even 50% of accurate speeds is a bit too optimistic.

 Eh, it's all a question of time. SquidgeSNES is at version number 0.34. Lot can happen in 0.66 versions, and then some. :p

And getting the most demanding application most likely possible on 2X to run on dual CPU's is rather different than getting the majority of Saturn games to utilize dual CPU setup.

squidge has only worked for a really short time on ssnes....
I bet in less than a year it will be fullspeed fs0 :).

@Jarska333: opensnes for gp32 never reached the 1.0 :p, so you never know ....

I pretty much agree. But he is right about there is no Assembly code in the emulator yet. People are sure to find a use for the 2nd core at some point, it is just hard to find a use for it. (It will be easier with HH mode no doubt).
I think it is still a bit early to talk about things like the SNES emulator, as being too hard/impossible.

So if zottd uses the second cpu and adds an ASM core we will probably get atleast around fullspeed PS1 emulation?

of course, games are nearly playable now anyway, and theres some ASM and new GPU jobbie hes going to put in it which are being coded by some other guys, it'll definetly see playable speed.

Both CPUs means shorter battery life.
