Properly Formatting Text Files For Gp2x Ebook Reader

i've been reading conflicting information on how to properly format text files for the embedded text viewer. i've tried VIM for word-wrapping but it still cuts off words in the middle.

could someone(s) provide a definitive list (or even a few different definitive lists) for the process of converting, say, a Project Gutenberg .txt file, for both Windows and Linux?

and could someone add these directions to the wiki?

Well, in Linux you could try the following:

cat gutenberg.txt | fromdos > cleaned.txt
fmt -w 52 cleaned.txt > gp2x.txt

Run that on the GP2X. It IS Linux after all ;)

Also, before you ask, just type those commands in the latest sterm.

fromdos is just a windows to linux line converter...

So guess what step you do yourself and guess what step you skip? ;)

fmt also isn't implemented in sterm v0.3. I just tried it. No go.
