A new Alien Prequel? film is due for release next year called Prometheus. It's a bit hazy what exactly it will be about, however, I have heard it is meant to explore the nature and origin of the unknown extraterrestrial race, who only had a brief appearance in the first Alien as the derelict spaceship's pilot.

Cant wait for it . Hope its as good as Aliens.

Good omens: Ridley Scott as director; no Ripley (Weaver's awesome of course, but the Studio's insistence on the Alien films always having the same central heroine is partly what derailed 3 and 4)

This isn`t a prequel as such... although Scott has said it has Alien DNA in the movie...

It started off as a prequel then JJ Abrahms got a hold of it.

lol, for a second there, I thought Prometheus (our Mega Mod) was an alien?

Jokes aside, I hope this movie turns out alright, because I'm growing tired of these crappy Alien Vs Predator movies.

Having said all that...I do have a lot of faith in Ridley Scott, because most of his movies are sweet as!

Im on the fence about this one.I hope its good though. Ridley scott has also signed up to do a sequel to Bladerunner too.Hes a good director but comes across as arrogant in interviews.

I always wondered why they never mentioned the other alien species anymore after the first movie. The 4th movie plays 200 years after the 3rd and nobody cared about that there is another intelligent alien species out there and from where the aliens originaly came from. It's about time they make a movie about that and not tell the same story over and over.

From what I've watched/read of the Aliens universe (which is close to everything) the large alien found on the derelict ship uses the Aliens to eradicate life on planets in which the larger alien pilot obtains resources/land from. Sorry to geek out like that...I grew up on Aliens. lol It is implied in the third novel that the larger alien species produced the actual Aliens as bioweapons...whether through bioengineering them from an existing stock or creating them from scratch the novels never touch upon. Ok...no more geekery I swear.

I'm really interested in this movie as the AvP movies were horrible.

On a side note Predators was the best Predator movie to come out since the first one for anyone who hasn't sen it yet.

Could you recall the authors of the book series connected please, as I read them all years ago and your reference strikes a chord? I also recall a performance enhancing drug being manufactured from xenomorph blood etc.

In addition i would agree that Predators is a better movie than the former but really it too, pretty much sucked. My fave is the AvP requiem (I think from memory) as a least some standard sad acts got waxed and a half decent Pred vs Alien battle ensued amidst the sewers with some new tech toys for Predators showcased. Otherwisee I agree, totally useless movies latley and the prequel has my passing interest; for now.

On the book subject I just discovered the Fighting Fantasy books were remade to iOS apps and now I am pining for The Way of the Tiger series re: Avenger (made 2 C64 games back then too) to appear at some point. Thats for a different thread though and by any god of choosing, I´m a geek still :)

Off to order some Games workshop citadel paints and minatures, some weird ass dice and copy of Dragon Warriors and Warhammer Fantasy RolePlay from ebay. Pity my brother never published Clandestiny.

I´ll get my coat ;)

Cant wait for it, I hope it does focus on large alien race from the derelict ship, that would be awesome.

On the Predators front, I like the first and second ones. The second because of Danny Glover and the Jamaicans and King Willy, awesome.

Steve Perry wrote the first three novels that coincide with the movies. David Bischoff wrote the fourth in which Xenozip is the drug you are referring to. They actually just released a bunch of new ones in the last couple years as well.

Here is the wiki for the novels...

I've actually never read the novelizations they made directly from the movies but I have all the other books and reread them quite frequently.

I *was* excited about this movie, but then I discovered something about the plot: wormhole.

Meh. I'll rent it.

Wormhole? Where?

I suspect that the large circular "claw" formation seen in the Alien movie was originally stood up on-end, and was a gateway of some sort.

However when the explorers from the first film entered the "claws" ship, they encountered the pilot race figure, who was oriented correctly to gravity, which means that if the ship had been originally upright, he'd have fallen easily when the ship entered gravity. I'm not sure how they'll resolve that one.

Looking forward to this one, in a big way.

D.
