USPS does not offer "tracking", they offer Delivery Confirmation. This was added for Ebay and Paypals benefit so people could offer USPS shipping and still be covered by Ebay and Paypal "Protection".
All it really does is "Confirm" that an item has been delivered. That way a seller can be covered if a buyer claims a package was never sent.
Now if the package is scanned at various points during delivery then the "tracking" part is updated as the package moves across the country or world. If the package is not scanned (it is not required so some places scan some don't) you will get no info until the postman scans it at your mailbox (which he is required to do ).
So let's stop knocking the USPS. They provide exactly what they say they provide. A Delivery Confirmation Number.
Now if you ship EMS then they do track it.
Now I ordered a Premium on the 31st of January. Confirmation Email on the 1st of Feb. Shipped out on the 7th of February and Delivered on the 9th of February. That was with UPS 24-48 delivery.
