After mucking around for awhile, I'm getting almost nowhere.. seems theres little documentation for any of the critical steps to getting the GP32 useful :)

I bought the unit with one game (Dungeon and Guarder, s'okay). Really, I want to get to the goods.. TG16 ;) (I've got a Turbo Express, mind you ;)

Took me awhile before I figured out how to get to the English site, as the google links were all dead, etc. Strange. Didnt' see the little English in the top right of the home page till too late.. I'd already found the PCLink software somewhere else, and installed USB drivers manually :/ Anyway..

Got to the english site, did the strange Auth thing (which didn't work really well in XP, but worked enough). It let me download the free launch (not that I had any idea I needed it.. I'd already spent an hour trying to run apps by installing them via PCLink.. no idea you needed another launcher first :/)

So anyway.. I've got all these fxe's and zpk's and fpk's and such.. and nomatter how I install them, the device never recognizes any games.

I've tried installing the launcher.. I install gp_launch.zpk to the root of a blank SMC card and its not recognized. I install it to GPMM directory and it snot recognized.

So where do you install this gp_launch.zpk file so that it can do *anything*?

Once I get that installed, and kick it up as a game, will I presumably be able to use it to launch these other apps (fxe's, for instance?)

Please help. I'm lost, and totally annoyed :) $350CDN or so down the tube so far :)

Let me solve my own problem..

Doesn't it always just occur to you minutes after posting a frustrated question?

The trick is to use Format. Dunno what it does, but it reformatted and created a stack of directories. I'd just popped the card in and created the directories myself.. no good.

All seems okay now.

to get freelauncher working make sure the dir structure is like this

GP:\GAME\gp_launc.GXE
GP:\GAME\GP_LAUNC\gp_launc.GXC

Well: Another mistake could be:
Don't try to copy ZPK-files with an SMC-Reader!
You can do this with fxe, mp3 ... files, but ZPK (also FPK)-files HAVE to be installed using the software and the USB cable!

Thanks guys; using an SMC reader with pk's didn't help as you point out :)

The GP32 really need about 30 lines of help somewhere.. some realyl basics stuff woudl make it infinitely more enjoyable :)

ie: So you've released a port of Doom.. thats all well and good, but you neglected to specify where the WAD files go, so I had to pull up ther executable and look around till I found the mention of the pathname.

Why oh why are the GP32 leet so lazy? ;) (I've done more than my share of ports and whatnot, fear not, and I always at least include a README file that says how to set it up :/)

See my post about Snes9x :)

Thanks for the help.. very appreciated. I've got about 40 TG16 games going now.. onto SNES9x :)

I've got Doom and Wolf3d going, too (and wolf can save.. nice. Since Doom can't, and hasn't been updated in 6mo, guess its not worth playing too far :/)

What other must haves are there?

GBengine, Doom, Wolf...

Can some one help ~ I ahve manged to register my new GP32 today but it wont let me log on to the site to down load the free launcher (is this the same software as PClink?

Update: Site back up and I got the file ~ what do I dow with it gplaunc.fpk

Do I need to format my SMC straight away?

1- format you smc

2- use pc-link, goto file->install and choose the gplaunc.fpk

it should have made directories with the files in on your gp32 like this

\GAME\gp_launc.GXE
\GAME\GP_LAUNC\gp_launc.GXC

then when you put emultors or other stuff on your gp, put .fxe files into the gpmm dir to get then working.

Hey I just got my gp32 and I cant get Snes9xgp to work on it. All it gives me is a black screen and freeezes my gp32. I put Cronotrigger and Zelda in the GP:/GPMM/ directory like it said with the emu and i dont know what im doing wrong.....plz someone help

Heretic is neat too. It has sound (if not too great), and it saves!
You can't change weapons though.
