VirtualDubMod comes with a package called AutoGK (Gordian Knot) that does everything for you, there are some hidden options with alt + F9 (can't recall correctly, but something like that), I would check the compatibility with DVD Divx player chipsets box, unsure which chip, but only if you have trouble with encoded Bframes.aapje89 posted on Jul 1 2006 at 02:37 PM said:vemode is really easy to use, and totally free
for more advanced converting I would recommend virtualdubmod.

Free and easy to use.
Just Google for it.

I tried the latest version of vemode - bit it crashed out with an error panel
Then i tried the previous version 1.0b and it converts to mp4 - I need avi don't I and the files are too big

Anyway, you must've picked the PSP or iPOD or something...scroll down the list and select GP2x, then press encode. That's about it for the basics. After you get one that way, then you can load the advanced options & start messing around with cropping, bitrate, size, audio settings, etc...but get the basics down before you mess with any of that.
It's very easy, you just rushed through it without really looking at it.

Not good form replying to oneself but here goes anyway, I deleted all devices from config.xml except forGP2X - success! Burtt why doesn't the drop down list populate correctly?

Change the screen to a bigger resolution.
