I'LL END YOU!!!
Well I decided to do some surgery on my Sega Game Gear, replacing all the capacitors? Why? beause there is too much bleeding on the screen.
I have already bought the parts (18 capacitors) from a local repair shop (well , it was downtown) and all I have left to do is to desolder the old capacitors, and solder in the new ones. I'll be documenting it here, I guess. Let's see how it goes!
I will also be doing an LED backlight mod, replacing the fluorescent tube with two high-intensity LEDs. I will be following a guide, but with a couple of twists. I might add a straw between the LEDs to help spread the light more evenly, like the built-in tube already does, and I was thinking of using more than two LEDs. I think I will try the straw thing and see how it goes.
heres tehe guide: http://pipe-organ-wo...l.com/5865.html
I do not have all the parts yet. I need:
two or more 3.3v white LEDs, high intensity.
one 33 Ohm resistor.
a straw.
OH: By the way, anyone in Victoria or North Vancovuer have a soldering iron I can borrow? I don't have my own, but I took an electronics course at school last year. Im taking the senior course next schoolyear, but I don't want to wait that long. Oh, and I need solder...
I found a soldering iron at thesource for $15, but I'd rather borrow one from someone.

Here's my Game Gear up and running, playing the only game I have so far. getting more tomorrow:
sorry about the bad quality, I'll redo it later.

edit:
I am going over to North Van tomorrow, and I have a decent camera there. I will do the procedures and more vids when I get there. I am getting a $15 45W soldering iron from TheSource. Hope it works!
by the way, you can share some interesting modifications (whether you failed or succeeded, it doesnt matter, even if you caused total destruction)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm done part one of the modifications. I replaced all of the capacitors and over all, the screen is much brighter and the image is sharper. I still have the problem with the bleeding, and its even more prominant because I can actually see the screen. it usually happens with vertical objects that are bright or white, such as pillars or bright text
I made some pictures, but they aren't great wuality, and I will post them later.
