Hi all !

PC/GEOS is now open source :)

It requires Watcom to compile though (don't think that one is compatible with ARM):

wow this brings back memories. GEOS was the first desktop GUI I ever used. I think we had geoworks 2.0 IIRC.

does this have any practical use? I mean, except for nostalgia and the potential to learn something from the source code?

Blimey, this is a blast from the past. I think I may have seen GEOS3.0 running on a Nokia 9110 at some point in the late 1990s but only very briefly. I have more experience of GEM (both on x86 and atari ST) then windows 2.0 in the late 80s/early 90s. Judging by the screenshot this is GEOS4.x although maybe it's just the infobox image from wikipedia.

I remember using GEM for GEMPaint on a 8086. I could then print my drawings on a dot-matrix printer. :)

Hi all :)

@levi: the good people at osnews.com think it's "at least" Ensemble 2.0 (not that I know anything about it, as I have no previous experience with that OS):

And yes, I just borrowed an image from Wikipedia to add some colours to my post :p

[doublepost=1544555693,1544555404][/doublepost]Hi again,

The README file on Github gives some more information:

The basement of this repository is the source code used to build Breadbox Ensemble 4.13 reduced by some modules identified as critical in regard to the license choosen for the repository

Mmm, have made 4.12 working "quick and dirty" in my lunch break.
WIN --> RPCEmu --> DOSBox
I think it will be work also on my Pandora this evening :)

And you also seem to be running some flavour of Windowing software inside DOSBOX! I'm not sure what windows that is though, colourscheme looks vaguely '95 but I don't see a start button. Judging by that file browser programs name though, is that GEOS?

Edit: Duh, yeah. This is the GEOS thread after all.

Better?
Will pick any of my old Geoworks documents from NAS and take a look how it works. But it take some time.

First used GEOS on my C64. Got it when I got my MPS 803 printer around 1984 or 1985. I used to use Geowrite to write thank you letters at Xmas and birthdays and mail merge them (as the relatives never met or spoke to each other!)

The whole thing felt like it was on the wrong system (it was!) but felt like a step to growing up.

Have try on my Classic in RISC OS. Is working. Anything like a 286'er feeling. ;)

If anything has a interest, I can upload the DOSBox stuff.
Have try RISC OS DOSBox and FastDOSBox but it should also work with the Angström DOSBox.
